CITY BANK SHUT AS STUDENTS STAGE SIT IN

February 29, 2012 - 3:16pm

AIB Lynch's Castle at Shop Street in the city has been closed this afternoon after a group of students protesting against cuts to education occupied the building.

It follows on from a protest which began at NUI Galway earlier this afternoon.

There's a strong garda presence at the bank as up to 20 students stage a sit-in at the foyer of the bank.

Up to 150 second level and third level students protested in Eyre Square this earlier afternoon.

They're angry at cuts to education and a planned increase to college registration fees.

The students, who were carrying placards and chanting "cutbacks- fight back," marched from Eyre Square to the office of Fine Gael TD Brian Walsh in Bohermore.

A sell out

This letter published in the Indo highlights the realisation that people no longer believe in party politics and these parties are no different in ideology. They have sold out a long time ago. People have a hatred of politicians. The politicians are certainly feeling the wrath of the people. Fine Gael are traitors to Ireland and our people. They are in the pocket of the Banksters, who enslave people and Nations. Our natural resources should and do belong to the Irish people.

“Friday February 24 2012

Ninety years ago, Michael Collins and Arthur Griffith, to all intents and purposes, gave their lives for the assets of Ireland: a reality not recognised today, and now totally disregarded by Taoiseach Enda Kenny and his cohorts in Fine Gael, as they gleefully prepare to sell to the highest bidder what rightfully belongs to future generations of Ireland.

In 1991, here in the state of Victoria, the assets were sold off to pay debt. The assets and profits now go to Indonesian, Chinese, US and British investors; the state debt has spiralled and the price of electricity and gas has increased dramatically.

Someone should teach Yeats's works in detail, starting with 'The Countess Kathleen', to Kenny, Noonan and their tribe before they don the treasonous mantle.

The Death Of MERS

by Mike Harris

Military foreclosures

At long last, it appears that the USA is still a country of laws and not a country of big banks and corporations.

A New York Federal Bankruptcy Judge named Grossman has finally ruled that the illegal scheme called MERS, that has defrauded both homeowners and large investors is nothing more than a scheme developed by bankers and mortgage brokers to also bilk the county recorders out of the fees due at title transfer.

MERS is the method the bankers preferred to quickly and illegally to evict millions of homeowners from their homes. In the process MERS allowed the Banks to separate the note from the security. This allowed the securitization and bundling of millions of home loans into trade able securities. The only problem is that the MERS process destroyed the chain of title. Now 50% of the real estate in the USA does not have a clear title to determine who actually owns the real estate and who owns the note. The net result is the notes for the home loans are worthless paper.

The Banks no longer have legal standing to evict any one from their home. That is the good news, the bad news is that no one now can prove they have a clear title. So who owns these homes and other real estate?? That is still unclear.

For the time being possession is 90% of the law and people with MERS homes and other MERS real estate, may need to resort to the concept of adverse possession and live on the property for the required time (which varies by state) until clear title can be issued by the state or county to the party which occupies the property.

Many people will be able to remain in their homes, but for those currently buying a home, the buyers must make sure that the bank will post a bond and insure clear title to the home before you sign any financial instruments. If not the home buyer risks not having a clear title to the home they are purchasing.

The downside for the banks is that they must now down grade their balance sheets to reflect that the financial instruments are defective, and write off trillions of dollars. The good news for many homeowners is they cannot be evicted.

The ruling by Judge Grossman is precedent setting and it restores the rule of law into the mortgage industry. The aftermath of these illegal practices of the banks and lenders may take decades to rectify. The other aggrieved parties are the institutional investors, pension funds, mutual funds who were also defrauded with these worthless securities. The banks will be forced to make them whole and refund 100% of their investments, please keep in mind that these funds belong to the American workers who earned the pensions by investing their savings in these funds for decades.

This may be the end of the too big to fail banks and I welcome their demise. They have abused the process, everyone and everything associated with mortgage lending for the past decade and longer. It is time to use the concept of the “Clawback” to strip the banks of their ill gotten assets and the bankers who have been personally enriched at the expense of everyone else.  No more obscene bonuses for the fat cats on Wall Street this Holiday Season!! The bankers should be forced to return all salary and bonus money they have been paid for the past decades, they should not benefit in any manner from the economic damage they have inflicted upon so many people.

It is time for the bankers to give up their yachts, private jets, numerous vacation homes and all the trappings of excessive wealth they have fraudulently gained at the expense of the American people. The banks should be liquidated to rectify this wrong; it is time to let the legitimate free market decide the outcomes of this economic disaster.

The real test will come with the power of the bankers in the Congress of the USA. If the Congress agrees to retro-actively legalize fraud, then we know the bankers are still in control. If not we will see active implementation of the law by every law enforcement body in the country, starting with the County Sheriff right up to the SEC and the DOJ. If we fail to see law enforcement embrace this ruling, this will confirm the depth of corruption in the USA. This is a bell weather moment in America, I look forward to the best possible outcome to the benefit of the American people, the homeowners and the institutional investors who were all defrauded by the bankers. Let Justice prevail!! Let the bankers, Hedge fund managers et al, be sentenced to a re-education camp, picking beets for the next 100 years. We can send the illegal aliens home; the bankers can pick the vegetables from now on.

The Marine Corp has a saying: “We don’t have problems, we have opportunities” this is true in this situation. America has the opportunity to completely reform our dysfunctional financial system from the ground up. Let us take full advantage of this once in a lifetime golden opportunity to its fullest extent. This is the best chance we will ever get to remake the financial model and the entire banking system of the country, this time for the benefit of the American people.

Bishop Williamson wins appeal against conviction in Germany

http://jailingopinions.com/blog/?p=22

On Ash Wednesday, 22nd February 2012, the courageous British Bishop Richard Williamson won the latest round in the struggle for free source-critical opinion in Europe, when the German appeal court quashed his conviction for “holocaust denial”.

Bishop Williamson had been under tremendous pressure from within his church, including the leadership of his traditional Catholic Society of St Pius X (SSPX), to abandon his defence and meekly accept criminalisation, following a prosecution which originated in an interview he gave to a Swedish television journalist in November 2008.

Fifty-five minutes into this interview, which had focused on religious matters as the Bishop had expected, the journalist suddenly sprang the question: “Bishop Williamson, are these your views?” and quoted comments made by the Bishop several years earlier in Canada

Bishop Williamson had then stated that – on the basis of the historical evidence as he understood it – he did not believe there had been any homicidal gas chambers in Third Reich Germany.  When unexpectedly challenged by the Swedish interviewer, he defended these views, saying:
“I believe that the historical evidence is strongly against, is hugely against six million Jews having been deliberately gassed in gas chambers as a deliberate policy of Adolf Hitler.”

The interview was broadcast in January 2009 and became widely available on the internet.  International Jewish organisations orchestrated an outcry, leading to pressure on the Roman Catholic Church from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

It is of course legal to hold such views or make Bishop Williamson’s comments in Canada, or in Sweden, or in the United Kingdom – but in Germany so-called “holocaust denial” is punishable by up to five years in prison.  Indeed in March 2009 the German lawyer Horst Mahler received the maximum five year prison sentence for such offences, as did the German-Canadian artist and publisher Ernst Zündel in 2007 after being expelled from Canada under an unconstitutional “national security certificate”.  German lawyer Sylvia Stoltz was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in 2008, and banned from practising her profession.

A criminal investigation of Bishop Williamson was launched by the German authorities within weeks of the broadcast, and in October 2009 he was fined €12,000 under the German system of “order of punishment”, which initially involves no trial but is sometimes accepted by defendants in straightforward cases, such as traffic offences and the like.

The Bishop’s initial lawyer Matthias Lossmann had been appointed via the SSPX, and pursued a defeatist strategy which led to his client being convicted following a trial in Regensburg in April 2010, though the fine was reduced to €10,000.

A first appeal was heard in July 2011, again in Regensburg, by which time Bishop Williamson had taken on new lawyers – first Wolfram Nahrath, and later Prof. Edgar Weiler, who represented him at the appeal hearing which I attended.

The outcome of this appeal was to reduce the fine again to €6,500, but the legal arguments introduced by Prof. Weiler have now resulted in the complete throwing out of the charges.

A reading of the documents suggests that Prof. Weiler was successful in challenging the very basis of the charges – namely the essential question of at what point Bishop Williamson had committed an offence.  Was it illegal simply to make these statements in Germany, even behind closed doors, to the Swedish journalist?  Surely this was not a “publication”.

Were the prosecutors arguing that Bishop Williamson had intended the comments to be broadcast in Germany, bearing in mind that he was speaking to a Swedish journalist for a Swedish programme?  Or that he had not done enough to prevent that publication?  If so, in what sense?  The broadcast clearly shows Bishop Williamson warning the journalist that such comments are illegal in Germany and that they should not be published there.

The higher court has now agreed that the prosecutors’ charges against Bishop Williamson failed to make these matters clear, and that his conviction should therefore be thrown out.

For the time being, the prosecutors are putting a brave face on their defeat, insisting that they intend to bring new, more precisely stated charges.  But by doing so they risk drawing further attention to the dangerous ambiguity of a German legal system which operates by very different standards of free expression from many of its European partners.

Such contradictions led of course to the historic victory in the London courts in 2008, when a European Arrest Warrant against the Australian academic Dr Fredrick Toben, drawn up by German prosecutors was similarly thrown out for reflecting the very vagueness of the law it is based upon, which fails to define terms such as “holocaust” or its unique alleged mass murder weapon.  On that occasion too, the German authorities and their partners in the Crown Prosecution Service insisted that they would appeal and continue to seek Dr Toben’s extradition, but they quickly abandoned their flimsy case.

The interests of truth and justice – not to mention the interests of the hard-pressed German taxpayer – would be well served if the prosecutors again accepted defeat in Bishop Williamson’s case.

Further updates will appear here when a full translation of today’s documents has been made.

Comments from Lady Michèle Renouf:
Dear Friends and Colleagues
Good on Attorney Prof Weiler! (His victory is in line with the successful strategy of Viennese veteran Attorney Dr Herbert Schaller), for tonight we see reports on the internet coming in at this moment of his legalese triumph (stage 1) in the valiant British Bishop's case :

"Erst die Veröffentlichung in Deutschland, also nicht schon das Geben des Interviews unter Ausschluss der Öffentlichkeit, kann die Strafbarkeit begründen“, heißt es in der OLG-Entscheidung." // "It was not until the publication in Germany, not even giving interviews to the exclusion of the public, may constitute a criminal offense," says the Court of Appeal decision."

Pro-life / Anti-abortion Advert

“This pro-life advert was previously banned by the Irish government who said it was too 'political' for the airwaves. Now Project Truth, first produced by Youth Defence in 1996, has been set to some amazing footage of the unborn child in the womb. It's challenging, thought-provoking, beautiful and sad. Show it to your friends. Spread the message.”

40 Days for Life

by Marie Miles
As the season of Lent approaches, we turn our minds once again to the 40 Days for Life Campaign.
This is one excellent way to share in the season of self-giving and self-denial as we prepare for the greatest liturgical event of the year, the Passion of Jesus and his Resurrection.

Last year the Campaign took place in Ireland for the first time, though it has been on-going, and expanding, right across the US for many years.
Because it is still so new here, you may not be familiar with it.
40 Days for Life consists of having a peaceful, prayerful presence at the doors of the Marie Stopes abortion referral centre in north Dublin every day they are open during Lent.

Last year over 80 people contacted us offering their help and support.
Some travelled quite a distance or made other considerable sacrifices to be there. In all, we managed to cover over 100 hours at the clinic, and offered up countless prayers.

The graces and blessings were literally tangible, with women cancelling their appointments, others coming forward seeking authentic healing after abortion, and the hearts and minds of the public changed.
All this would not be possible without the efforts of the volunteers, women, men, young, old, who take time to witness for the Gospel of Life. I know all of them found the experience spiritually nourishing.

If you can spare one hour over Lent, or more, we need as many volunteers to form small teams to cover as many hours as possible outside the agency. You can literally save and change lives.

Since last year we have opened our new Freya Care centre close to Marie Stopes.
We can now offer immediate assistance to any women and their families in need, be it a crisis pregnancy or suffering after the loss of a baby through abortion.

Please commit to giving some time this Lent, starting 22 February, no matter how little you can spare. To take part you only need to be a kind, compassionate person.
Reading this article you may feel God calling you to this work. If so, please phone or text one of the organisers and participate in the most important work on earth.

Questions for Clare Daly!

Clare Daly, pictured here on the left is a Socialist TD (Member of Parliament) in Dublin. See the earlier post regarding Sinead Ahern’s (Choice Ireland) opinion on when life begins. It is statement of fact that life begins at conception. Sinead is quite ignorant in this regard. Clare Daly wants to table a motion in the parliament to legislate for abortion.

With Worker’s Party and Eirgi members joining pro-life rallies in Dublin, it is certain many in the Socialist tradition oppose the mass murder of the innocent.  You also had socialists in France supporting the pro-life march in Paris.

Positive and true nationalism, appeals to the family. There is no excuse for the mass-murder of the innocent through abortion. Abortion is murder. Those who “sit on the fence” in relation to abortion, need to realise there is no middle way between what is true and false and what is right or wrong? The moral crime of abortion is always wrong. It is the intentional taking of life for profit.

There is no need for a debate on abortion. It always means the murder of the innocent. Those who support ‘Safe and Legal’ abortion supports this.

Socialism Kills

“In the beginning, Communism showed itself for what it was in all its perversity; but very soon it realized that it was thus alienating the people. It has, therefore, changed its tactics, and strives to entice the multitudes by trickery of various forms, hiding its real designs.”

Divini Redemptoris, on Atheistic Communism
It’s  important to point out that James Connolly died in full communion with the Church and it is clear he believed in the Divinity of Christ.

Ireland's leading pro-abortion advocate says "life begins at birth"!!

“In case you're wondering when pro-abortion advocates think life begins, Sinead Ahern of Choice Ireland has clarified the matter. In a debate on 4FM with pro-life spokesperson Caroline Simons, she said life begins at "birth" not conception!”

Victims of Allied Terror Bombings Remembered

We all know who financed and won WWII. Here is a recent video of Germans remembering the bombing of Dresden.

“Some 2,000 participants at the funeral march in memory of the victims of Allied terror bombing of 13-14. February 1945 some 2,000 German history-conscious as well as guests from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic, Russia and the Netherlands took part in the traditional Dresden tonight funeral march to commemorate the victims of the destruction of the city by Allied bombers 67 years ago. Contrary to the usual numbers game media has been reported by the organizers of the "Action Against Forgetting" a considerable number of participants for a week.”

End of game in the Middle East

A recent article.

by Thierry Meyssan

Although the armed clashes are not completely over in the beleaguered district of Homs and that the Syrian and Lebanese authorities have yet to inform public opinion of their recent actions, Thierry Meyssan appeared Monday night on the leading Russian television channel to make an initial assessment of the operations, providing first-hand information which he is sharing with the readers of Voltaire Network.

Voltaire Network | Damascus (Syria) | 14 February 2012

For eleven months, the Western powers and the Gulf States have lead a campaign to destabilize Syria. Several thousand mercenaries infiltrated the country. Recruited by agencies in Saudi Arabia and Qatar within the Sunni extremist community, they came to overthrow the "usurper Alawite" Bashar al-Assad and impose a Wahhabi-inspired dictatorship. They have at their disposal the most sophisticated military equipment, including night vision systems, communication centers, and robots for urban warfare. Supported secretly by the NATO powers, they also have access to vital military information, including satellite images of Syrian troop movements, and telephone interceptions.

This has been falsely portrayed to the Western public as a political revolution crushed in blood by a ruthless dictatorship. Of course, this lie has not been universally accepted. Russia, China and the Latin American and Caribbean member states of ALBA repudiate it. They each have a historical background that allows them to readily grasp what is at stake. The Russians are thinking of Chechnya, the Chinese of Xinjiang, and the Latin Americans of Cuba and Nicaragua. In all these cases, beyond ideological or religious appearances, the methods of destabilization by the CIA were the same.

Group of Syrian government opponents, belonging to the hotchpotch commonly known as "Free Syrian Army."

The strangest thing about this situation is to observe the Western media deluding themselves that the Salafists, Wahhabis and Al-Qaeda fighters are motivated by democratic principles, while they continue to demand on Saudi and Qatari satellite airwaves the head of the Alawi heretics and the Arab League observers. It matters little if Abdel Hakim Belhaj (number 2 of Al-Qaeda and current military governor of Tripoli, Libya) came personally to install his men in northern Syria, and Ayman Al-Zawahiri (current leader of Al-Qaeda since the official death of Osama bin Laden) has called for a jihad against Syria: the Western press pursues its romantic dream of a liberal revolution.

Even more ridiculous is to hear the Western media slavishly disseminating the daily dispatches put out by the Syrian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood ranting about the crimes of the regime and its victims, under the signature of the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights. Besides, since when has this Brotherhood of putchists been interested in human rights?

Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Al-Qaeda’s number one following the official death of Osama Bin Laden, reiterated his call for hijad to overthrow the Baasist regime in Syria.

All it took to turn "terrorists" into "democrats" was for Western secret services to arrange for the puppet "Syrian National Council" to enter the scene, with a Sorbonne professor as President and as spokesperson the mistress of the former head of the DGSE. In a sleight of hand, the lie has become a media reality. Those abducted, mutilated and murdered by the Wahhabi Legion are transformed by the press into victims of the tyrant. Conscripts of all faiths who are defending their country against aggression are painted as sectarian Alawite soldiers oppressing their people. The destabilization of Syria by foreigners is treated as one more episode of the "Arab Spring." The emir of Qatar and the Saudi king, two absolute monarchs who have never held national elections in their countries and incarcerate protesters, have become the champions of revolution and democracy. France, the United Kingdom and the United States, who just killed 160,000 Libyans in breach of the mandate they received from the Security Council, have turned into philanthropists responsible for the protection of civilian populations. Etc..

However, the low intensity war that the Western press and the Gulf have hidden behind this masquerade came to an end with the double veto by Russia and China on 4 February 2012. NATO and its allies were ordered to cease fire and withdraw, at the risk of sparking a war on a regional, or even global, scale.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad with Russian Foreign Minister Serguei Lavrov on 7 February in Damascus.

On 7 February, a large Russian delegation, including the highest ranking foreign intelligence officials, arrived in Damascus where it was greeted by cheering crowds, aware that Russia’s return to the international scene marked the end of their nightmare. The capital, but also Aleppo, the second largest city, were decked out in white, blue, red, and people marched behind banners written in Cyrillic. At the presidential palace, the Russian delegation joined those of other states, including Turkey, Iran and Lebanon. A series of agreements were reached to re-establish peace. Syria has returned 49 military instructors captured by the Syrian army. Turkey intervened to obtain the release of the abducted Iranian engineers and pilgrims, including those held by the French (incidentally, Lieutenant Tlass who sequestered them on behalf of the DGSE was liquidated). Turkey has ceased all support for the "Free Syrian Army," closed down its facilities (except the one on the NATO base at Incirlik), and turned over its commander, Colonel Riad el-Assad. Russia, which is the guarantor of the agreements, has been allowed to reactivate the former Soviet listening base on Mount Qassioum.

The next day, the US State Department informed the Syrian opposition in exile that it could no longer count on its military aid. Realizing that they have betrayed their country to no avail, the Syrian National Council members went in search of new sponsors. One of them even went so far as to write to Benjamin Netanyahu asking him to invade Syria.

JPEG - 41.8 kb

Deployment of the Lebanese army during its operation in the north of the country.

After a period of two days required for the implementation of the agreements, not only the national armies of Syria, but also Lebanon, stormed the bases of the Wahhabi Legion. In northern Lebanon, a massive arsenal was seized in the town of Tripoli and four officers were taken prisoner in Akkar, in a school abandoned by UNRWA and transformed into a military HQ. In Syria, General Assef Shawkat in person commanded the operations. At least 1,500 fighters were captured, including a French colonel of the DGSE technical communication services, and more than a thousand people were killed. At this stage it is not possible to determine how many among the victims are foreign mercenaries, how many are Syrians cooperating with foreign forces, and how many are civilians trapped in the beleaguered city.

Lebanon and Syria have restored their sovereignty over their entire territory.

Intellectuals are debating whether Vladimir Putin might have made a mistake in protecting Syria at the risk of a diplomatic crisis with the United States. The question is wrongly put. Having reconstituted its forces for years and asserted itself today on the international stage, Moscow has put an end to two decades of a unipolar world order, permitting Washington to expand its hegemony to achieve global domination. The choice was not between siding with tiny Syria or with the mighty United States, but between allowing the first world power to destroy yet another government or upsetting the balance of power to create a more just international order in which Russia has a say.

Less than 100,000 registered for household charge

Half way through the so-called “Registration Period” for the so-called “Household Charge” we find that fewer than 100,000 people have signed up to it. The total by now should be in and around the 700- - 800,000 mark! A new leaflet from our so-called “government” – read gombeens, incompetents and traitors - will be arriving at people’s doors in the coming 14 days or so. It is a measure of their desperation. If they are going to send such a leaflet to 1.6 million houses, why not just send a bill? Answers on a postcard to: Department of Shoneens, Dublin.

Trade in gombeens

With a new generation picking up and reading such books as ‘The Party System’ very few believe the politicians promise. The government have announced yet another initiative to “ deliver 100,000 jobs by 2016”. Who believes them? 2016 is significant for Ireland as it will mark the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising of 1916. A new generation of people are not represented by the current political establishment. In compiling this post, I cam across this song. Lyrics include “We trusted your guidance and boarded your ship, in hope of a journey that granted our wish
In turn it was all just a swinish design, to steal us of money, man you crossed the line”

Many did indeed trust these politicians. People are no longer blinded by the lies and are fighting back. The politicians are feeling the heat.

“Tuesday February 14 2012

Ireland's new currency should be called the 'gombeen', in honour of our greatest character trait. The one gombeen coin will depict Charlie Haughey, for old time's sake. The five gombeen note will pay tribute to an image of the Galway tent. Ten gombeens will show our genius bankers, the night they bamboozled Brian Cowen and Brian Lenihan into having this State underwrite the bank losses of Irish and European casino banks. Twenty gombeens will have an image of an actual tiger, to remind our grandchildren that we once thought of ourselves as financial whizz kids.

Pride of place on the new 50 gombeen note should go to the plain old Irish voters, for all the years they used their vote in exchange for a stroke from a local ludramon politician, never realising that they would get their comeuppance one day.

There will have to be a limit on how many gombeens each person can donate to a political party, but ways will be found around the rules, of course; this is Ireland, after all. Politicians will be overpaid 100,000 gombeens per year for sitting in the Dail, gobbling like turkeys at one another. We won't bother trying to make politicians behave in a mature manner, because, like night follows day, the gombeen will itself collapse before too long, as this is Ireland after all.

A House of Sand and Fog

An interesting article here reflecting the geo-political situation.

A House of Sand and Fog

Lies, Revolutions and Wars

by Nebojsa Malic, February 11, 2012

Last summer, as the Sandstorm mistakenly dubbed the “Arab Spring” swept across North Africa, a cadre of professional revolutionaries the Empire created in Serbia bragged about their role in the revolts to some European videographers. Sure, the revolts in Tunisia and Egypt may have begun spontaneously, but Empire-trained activists soon took control and channeled the rage into “regime change.” It’s what they get paid for.

Staging revolts and coups to replace foreign governments with more pliable ones is nothing new; only the techniques have changed, with “democracy activists” replacing Agency assets as the executors. But with the acceleration of information dispersal in the digital age came the shortening of the blowback window as well. It took twenty-six years for Persian resentment at the 1953 ousting of Mossadegh to manifest itself as Khomeini’s Islamic Revolution. Now mere months are enough.

“The Cairo 19”

Last week, the military government in Cairo – caretakers of the country until the Muslim Brotherhood takes over - arrested some forty-odd “democracy activists,” including 19 Americans. Reactions in Washington ranged from shock to outrage: how dare these foreigners touch the sacred missionaries of Democracy? Sure, these young people get paid big money by the unwitting American taxpayers, to foment unrest and subvert governments the world over, but isn’t that the prerogative of Empire? Isn’t it, like, oppressive and stuff, to prevent Serbian sellouts and sons of American government officials to earn their own private islands?

Even though foreign activism in the electoral process is strictly illegal in America itself, the rest of the world objecting to America interfering in their elections is just, well, “illiberal”! That’s what passes for logic in the Empire these days.

Furthermore, the revolution business is booming, quickly becoming the Empire’s major export. Granted, successful businesses are supposed to bring in profit, and the coups around the world are only sowing anti-American resentment – but what’s logic got to do with the thrill of fame and power?

Julija Belej Bakovic, described by the Washington Post as a “former student activist in Serbia”, now heads a regional office of the International Republican Institute (IRI) for Asia. She still believes what happened in Serbia is a “light at the end of the tunnel” for people everywhere. It certainly worked out well for her: she parlayed her “activism” into a well-paid international career. Most of her colleagues are lucky if they have jobs at all, in the “democratic” Serbia turned into a corrupt hellhole by Julija’s revolution that wasn’t.

It brings to mind a saying from Serbia, “What a wise man is ashamed of, the fool parades with pride.”

By The Numbers

Bolstered by the alleged success of the “Arab Spring,” the Empire set its crosshairs on Moscow. In December last year, “activists” began organizing protest marches and claiming that elections for the Russian federal legislature were stolen. This is a trope right out of the handbook, by the way – and easily disproved by doing actual math and statistics.

While shaken initially, the government of Vladimir Putin has rallied and charged the demonstrators with being foreign mercenaries. Trite but true, the charge resonated in a country stripped to the bone in the 1990s by a quisling regime beholden to the Empire. Nor does it help the Empire’s cause that Russians remember all too well the 2004 “Orange Revolution” in nearby Ukraine.

On February 4, as Empire’s activists rallied in freezing weather at Moscow’s Bolotnaya Square, a much larger crowd gathered to support the government at Poklonnaya Hill. The Western media promptly lied about the size of the demonstrations, but in Russia the difference was clear to anyone with eyes to see: the pro-government demonstrators vastly outnumbered the astroturfers. According to some observers, this may have taken the wind out of the revolutionaries’ sails, at least for now.

The Road to Damascus

Last weekend, Russia and China vetoed a resolution at the UN Security Council that would have backed “regime change” in Syria. Imperial officials predictably denounced this as a “travesty.” But was it?

Back in March 2011, both countries agreed to a resolution (UNSCR 1973) authorizing the no-fly zone over Libya, allegedly to protect innocent civilians. Supposedly, these civilians – or rather, the armed rebellion in Cyrenaica – were threatened by the Libyan air force. Within hours, the resolution became a fig leaf for a massive air campaign and special forces intervention on behalf of an Empire-backed rebellion. The Emperor argued it wasn’t a war but a “kinetic military action.” Is there another kind?

In Libya, the Bosnia scenario played out in fast-forward. Something similar began taking shape in Syria. However, a designated propaganda star of the Syrian revolt was exposed as a hoax early on, while the Libyan expedition took much longer than expected. For a while it seemed the Empire’s next target might be Iran, but currently the war drumline is beating a march to Damascus.

Empire’s moral outrage at Russia and China is hypocrisy at its finest. The warmongers in Washington and London are already bringing up Bosnia and Kosovo - two celebrated “successful” interventions that were nothing of the sort. There is definitely a pattern of aggression at work, but its source is not Assad.

Faced with a belligerent American Empire prone to attacking other countries with flimsy justification (or none at all), conducting drone wars worldwide, and organizing Astroturf revolutions in countries it finds too difficult to invade, it is honestly a miracle that Moscow and Beijing have waited this long.

Trouble in Paradise

Odds are the Chinese and Russian governments hardly think that a UN veto would keep the Empire in check; after all, lack of UN authorization didn’t stop the 1999 Kosovo War, or the 2003 invasion of Iraq. A Russian Navy task force anchored in Syria, however, just might.

Simply put, it is no longer 1999. Actions have consequences, and the Empire has lied, stolen, killed and cheated enough over the past two decades for the rest of the world to take notice and take action. Worst of all, the Imperial officials are actually convinced their actions have created a favorable reality on the ground – where in actuality, they’ve build a house of sand and fog that’s already falling apart.

The Future Of Major Irish Cities?

There is no doubt the political establishment in Ireland has failed with regard crime. The recent murder of a 16 year old girl in a ‘drive by’ shooting in Tallaght (Dublin) highlights how a community is blighted by crime whilst politicians do nothing. Criminal acts being carried out by Irish and immigrant thugs are on the increase. The following article is worth reading and pondering upon.

Take No Prisoners: Self Defense Killings in Detroit Spike to 2200% Above National Average; Justifiable Homicide up 79%

Mac Slavo
February 10th, 2012

As the economic crisis in 2008 took hold and the nation’s spiral into the next Great Depression became more apparent, we opined that crime would sky rocket as a consequence of millions of lost jobs, falling purchasing power and outright desperation.

The city of Detroit, which has been a harbinger for future trends soon to take hold across major metropolitan areas around the country, has no doubt experienced the worst of the depression thus far. Entire city blocks have become unlivable due to foreclosures and rampant crime, the jobless rate in 2009 exceeded 50% and a mass exodus has left the population at levels not seen since 1910.

By all accounts, the Motor City is ground zero for the collapse of America as we know it. Reminiscent of poverty stricken third world countries, it’s gotten so bad in Detroit that there are areas of the city where police and emergency services personnel refuse to go.

This has left law abiding residents of the city no choice but to arm themselves and start taking matters into their own hands.

The people of Detroit are taking no prisoners.

Justifiable homicide in the city shot up 79 percent in 2011 from the previous year, as citizens in the long-suffering city armed themselves and took matters into their own hands. The local rate of self-defense killings now stands 2,200 percent above the national average. Residents, unable to rely on a dwindling police force to keep them safe, are fighting back against the criminal scourge on their own. And they’re offering no apologies.

“We got to have a little Old West up here in Detroit. That’s what it’s gonna take,” Detroit resident Julia Brown told The Daily.

The last time Brown, 73, called the Detroit police, they didn’t show up until the next day. So she applied for a permit to carry a handgun and says she’s prepared to use it against the young thugs who have taken over her neighborhood, burglarizing entire blocks, opening fire at will and terrorizing the elderly with impunity.

“I don’t intend to be one of their victims,” said Brown, who has lived in Detroit since the late 1950s. “I’m planning on taking one out.”

Average police response time for priority calls in the city, according to the latest data available, is 24 minutes. In comparable cities across the country, it is well under 10 minutes.

Citizens like Brown feel they have been left with little choice but to take the law into their own hands.

Detroiters are arming themselves with shotguns and handguns and buying guard dogs. Anything to take care of their own. And privately, residents say neighborhood watch groups in Detroit are widely armed.

“It’s like the militiamen who stepped up way back when. That’s where the neighborhood folks are,” said James “Jackrabbit” Jackson, a 63-year-old retired Detroit cop who has patrolled the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood for years.

“They’re ready to fight,” Jackson said. “We don’t hardly see police anymore.”

The city’s wealthier enclaves have hired private security firms. Intimidating men in armored trucks patrol streets lined with gracious old homes in a scene more likely seen in Mexico City than the United States.

The Detroit Police Department, grappling with deep funding cuts in a city with a spiraling budget crisis, acknowledges that response times are high and says it is working on a plan to lower them. But a spokeswoman for the department insists the rise in justifiable homicides is unrelated.

“It’s not about police response time because often the act has already taken place by the time the police are called,” said Sgt. Eren Stephens. She said citizens have a right to defend themselves.

“Anytime a life is lost, we’re concerned,” she said. “But we can‘t be on every corner in front of every home. And we know that there are citizens who will do what they have to do to protect themselves.

Is it any wonder why recent firearms sales statistics indicate that 2011 was the largest year ever for gun sales in America, with a record 10.8 million guns sold?

All of us should take heed. Budget cuts, economic woes and a rising criminal element throughout our country are leaving the populace more susceptible to violent crime than ever before. Like our fellow Americans in Detroit, it’s only a matter of time before we’re faced with similar paradigm shifts in our own cities, communities and neighborhoods.

Get armed, get trained, and when faced with a life threatening situation, take no prisoners.

Police clash with protesters outside the Greek parliament

The real enemy are of course the International Financiers who enslave people and Nations. The prime ministers and other politicians are completely  in their pocket. The civil strife in Greece is spreading across Europe and around the world.

http://www.presstv.ir/detail/226356.html

Riot police have clashed with protesters outside the Greek parliament as lawmakers began debating the latest austerity bill needed to secure a new international bailout and avoid bankruptcy.

Police is scuffling with demonstrators at the Syntagma Square in Athens, while Greek lawmakers debate legislation on severe austerity measures necessary for the country to secure a 130-billion-euro bailout from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.
The debate started shortly after 3:30 pm local time on Sunday, and will take at least 10 hours, finishing well past midnight.

Greece’s labor unions have been urging people to join the protests. Protesters are expected to stay outside the building throughout the vote.
More than 6000 thousands police officers have been deployed in central Athens as authorities are afraid the protests might turn violent.
Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos Cabinet approved the draft bill early on Saturday despite massive public protests and resistance by some cabinet members, who resigned over the cuts.
The international lenders have asked Greece to come up with EUR 3.2 billion in spending cuts for 2012, by making cuts to private sector wages and pensions, public sector layoffs and cuts in health, pensions and defense spending.

The new funding is vital for Greece to pay off a big bond redemption payment next month and avoid a default, which could send shockwaves throughout financial markets and the global economy.
Greeks have taken to the streets for anti-government demonstrations on numerous occasions since the austerity cuts began in early 2011. Many of the demonstrations turned violent, leaving scores of protesters injured.

After 70 years, archeologists start looking for Holocaust evidence

“"Mass Graves at Nazi Death Camp Treblinka Prove Holocaust Deniers Wrong"

T

his was the title of an article in the British local newspaper The Huffington Post of Jan 16, 2012. It reported about the forensic research conducted on the territory of the former German wartime camp Treblinka (Poland) under the supervision of Caroline Sturdy Colls, a Forensic Archaeologist at the University of Birmingham, England.

Caroline Sturdy Colls

Caroline Sturdy Colls

Two years ago Mrs. Sturdy Colls had announce publicly that she would try to find evidence of the Treblinka mass graves, where the bodies of at least 700,000 murdered Jews are said to have been buried in the second half of 1942. Sturdy Colls stated:

"It's hard to believe that there has been no systematic search for the six million victims who perished in the Holocaust. 800,000 people were murdered here at Treblinka and their bodies were never found. It's time we started looking."

Revisionists do of course agree with the last statement, although they have some qualms with the rest, as revisionist scholar Thomas Kues has pointed out. Already in late 1999, the Australian engineer Richard Krege conducted forensic research by using ground-penetrating radar in an attempt to locate the claimed mass graves. His preliminary paper has only been published in German and French, but as far as we know, Krege never published a final, more thorough report about his findings. (A video clip about his work is available at YouTube, although it doesn't show much.) He did present some of his research results at a revisionist conference held in Tehran in late 2006, but Krege's paper was not published after this event either (see also this radio interview, (part 2)).

Treblinka: Transit Camp
or Extermination Camp?

Astonishingly, Krege claims to have found no ground disturbances at all on the territory of the former Treblinka camp, although quite a few trenches were dug in this area during a forensic investigation conducted by the Polish authorities right after the war. So if Krege's method had been sound, he should have at least found those disturbances. In addition, those Polish investigators did indeed find traces of mass graves, although the size of their find did not match the gargantuan claims made about Treblinka.

That these claims are technically impossible and unsupported by the available physical eviedence, has been conclusively proven by Carlo Mattogno and Jürgen Graf in their thoroughly researched book on Treblinka (see the cover image at the right). This book also contains a partial translation of the report prepared by the above-mentioned Polish investigators about their 1945 excavations (pp. 83-89).

All things considered, it cannot surprise that Krege's ground-penetrating research might not have been all that penetrating after all and that he has therefore been attacked by the orthodoxy.

Although Mrs. Sturdy Colls did not expressly refer to Krege's research, it may be assumed that it did trigger Sturdy Colls' curiosity and maybe even her ire. Sturdy Colls did present some of her own research results in a paper entitled "Archaeological Approaches to Holocaust Landscapes" during a 2011 conference in Germany, of which at the moment only a nondescript abstract is available.

Let us now look into the few scraps of information which Mrs. Sturdy Colls released to the public in her interview granted to The Huffington Post:

  1. Regarding the mass graves which Mrs. Sturdy Colls claims to have found, she stated:

"These are considerable in size, and very deep, one in particular is 26 by 17 metres [442 sq.m.]"

This probably denotes the surface area of a particularly large area of disturbed soil. Of course, all she can say from ground-penetrating radar data is that this is an area which has been disturbed. Whether it was a grave, or a result of post-war digging activities, would have to be found out by excavations.

  2. If we assume that the soil disturbance found by Mrs. Sturdy Colls was indeed a mass grave in its entirety and had a depth of 6 m (as claimed for instance by witness E. Rosenberg), this would result in a volume of some 2,600 cubic meters. Yet if we follow the orthodox version, a least 700,000 Jews were buried in that camp until the end of 1942 alone. Assuming a realistic density of some six corpses per cubic meter, this would result in the need for a cumulative mass grave volume of some 117,000 cubic meters.

  3. Hence Mrs. Sturdy Colls should not have found one particularly large soil disturbance of some 2,600 cubic meters (and probably many more smaller ones), but at least 45 of such large soil disturbances. After all, revisionists do not challenge the fact that mass graves do exist in the area of that camp. They merely challenge the humongous, technically impossible order of magnitude as claimed by the orthodoxy.

A more thorough critique of what Mrs. Sturdy Colls found and, more importantly, how she interprets it, will have to wait until she will have published the results of her research. We all can rest assured that our revisionist experts will eagerly read and scrutinze her upcoming paper.

So stay tuned!

In November 2010 I published a blog entry on an online video concerning the research activity of a young British archaeologist from the University of Birmingham, Caroline Sturdy Colls, who had set out to refute "Holocaust Deniers" by locating the mass graves at the Treblinka "extermination camp" using "the most up-to-date scientific techniques."[1]Recently, a news report was published boldly stating that "mass graves at Nazi death camp Treblinka prove Holocaust deniers wrong." In this we read:[2]

"A British forensic archaeologist has unearthed fresh evidence to prove the existence of mass graves at the Nazi death camp Treblinka. Some 800,000 Jews were killed at the site, in north east Poland, during the Second World War but a lack of physical evidence at the site has been exploited by Holocaust deniers. Forensic archaeologist Caroline Sturdy Colls has now undertaken the first co-ordinated scientific attempt to locate the graves."

It is worth recalling that the same triumphant claim that the "Holocaust deniers" finally and once and for all had been "refuted" was heard in connection with Kola's surveys at Belzec and Sobibór, which in reality turned out to refute the official version of events relating to these two camps. (For this see the two books of TBR's "Holocaust Handbooks" series on Belzec and Sobibor as shown to the right.)

The above quoted news item was more or less a push for a radio program, "Hidden Graves of the Holocaust," featuring Sturdy Colls as well as Yitzhak Arad and former Treblinka inmate Kalman Taigman, which was broadcast by BBC Radio 4 on 23 January 2012, 20:00 GMT.[3] In anticipation of this radio program, on the same date, a podcast interview was uploaded by the University of Birmingham "Ideas Lab."[4] In this we can listen to the following description of the methods employed by Sturdy Colls and her team, as well as some vague descriptions of their findings:

"Interviewer: What technology have you used to investigate the site?

Sturdy Colls: I used a number of non-invasive techniques at Treblinka and what this means is, as you quite rightly pointed out, the ground wasn't disturbed due to Jewish burial law so the methods used didn’t involve any form of ground disturbance or excavation and this allowed us to investigate the historic and scientific potential of Treblinka but obviously it was very important that we recognised its religious and commemorative significance as well. So the techniques that were used, there was a process of archival research which involved looking at documentary records, revisiting historical data if you like, looking at known data and assessing it with an archaeological eye, so looking for information about the landscape. Then there was a process of looking for aerial photographs of the site, any ground based photography, accounts by the witnesses, plans that had been created, etc., to build up a database of information so that when I did do the survey all of that could be corroborated against my results. So in the field this involved field walking, so assessing the landscape, topographic survey which used advanced GPS and total station surveying to demarcate features on a plan of the site allowed us to record micro-topographic change which may be indicative of buried features. And also to assess the visibility of other features such as a number of artefacts that were actually identified in quite a remote part of the site.  Then moving on from that to look below the ground I used a number of geophysical techniques, so quite often mentioned is ground penetrating radar and this was one of the methods used but this was also corroborated with other methods that detect other physical properties in the soil. So I also used resistance survey and an extension of that which allows 3D imaging of buried remains as well, to ensure that all of the properties of the buried remains could be characterised accurately.

Interviewer: And what have you discovered?

Sturdy Colls: Well the survey results when corroborated with historical information have indicated that there are a number of surviving building foundations at Treblinka just below the surface and also a considerable amount of obviously structural debris which the Nazis would have been simply unable to have removed from the site, and this supports accounts written by post-war investigators which commented upon the visibility of artefactual remains, structural remains, at the camp. We’ve also identified a number of pits at the site. Again, all these pits have been mapped and corroborated with witness plans and this is indicative of a number of probable graves at the site. It is recognised as part of the survey that the history of Treblinka didn’t end with its abandonment by the Nazis. Issues such as post-war looting and the construction of the memorial itself and a number of other forms of landscape change that have taken place at the site, you know, could confuse interpretation so it was essential that all of these were considered when the results from the geophysical survey in particular were being assessed.  So then all of this data was married up with historical information so we seem to have a situation here where it’s been commonly believed that all of the victims at Treblinka were cremated, they were destroyed without trace, however, the research has revealed a much more complex picture of the disposal patterns used by the Nazis.  Looking at it from an offender profiling perspective, so a slightly more forensic point of view, the Nazis worked on, as do most offenders, this principle of least effort where they would actually have a burial method that very much matched the nature of their victims or their locations within the camp and there are a number of photographs and physical evidence that we observed on the ground at Treblinka that demonstrates that these bodies were not reduced to ash, that some survive as mass graves in the truest sense and that also the ashes of the victims were redeposited into the pits that they were originally exhumed from upon Himmler’s order in 1943.  Also with the topographic survey we’ve demonstrated that the camp as it’s marked currently on the ground by the modern memorial was actually much larger, that the boundaries of the camp should have been 50 metres further north and this has a knock-on effect for a number of structures within the camp itself.  So we can examine it from a spatial point of view and look at all of these features in relation to each other and hopefully eventually start to build up a more detailed map of the camp as it existed during its operation.

Interviewer: So you’ve now presented your findings to the authorities responsible for the memorial at Treblinka. Does this conclude investigations at the Treblinka site or is it sort of an ongoing project?

Sturdy Colls: It’s absolutely an ongoing project. The survey demonstrated that the site has got huge potential in terms of what we can learn from the application of archaeological method and very much was the tip of the iceberg in terms of being the first survey of what I hope will be many more to come. I hope to return to the site later on this year and there will be subsequent seasons of fieldwork in coming years. As I mentioned, at the moment what we’ve got is a map of what survived at the camp as a result of my findings. However, in order to build up a map of the camp as it existed we need to do more work, we need to survey the site. Only a small proportion of the site has actually been surveyed so there’s huge potential to find out more about the history of this camp in the future."

Somewhat more on the findings of Sturdy Colls could be gleaned from the BBC 4 radio documentary "Hidden Graves of the Holocaust." Starting at the mark 23:20 minutes we hear:

"Caroline Sturdy Colls: All the history books states that Treblinka was destroyed by the Nazis, in summary, the survey demonstrated that this simply isn't the case. I have identified a number of buried [sic] pits using geophysical techniques. These are considerable. One in particular is 26 meters by 17 meters.

Jonathan Charles: That's huge.

Sturdy Colls: It is huge. We are talking about a considerable number of bodies [which] could have been contained within pits of that size.

Charles: That could have contained hundreds, perhaps thousands of bodies, we don't know how deep it is, or do you know how deep it is?

Sturdy Colls: Unfortunately no. The survey technology does not allow us to go to certain depths. I know that it is over 4 meters, that was the extent of this [inaudible]. It's a considerable pit.

Charles: There are quite a few pits that you have discovered?

Sturdy Colls: Absolutely, there were a number of pits, in particular to the rear of what of what is now the current memorial, five that are actually in a row, again of a considerable size, in an area where witnesses state this was the main body disposal area, this is behind the gas chambers, it was where the majority of victims who were sent there were then subsequently buried, and later where the cremative remains of the victims were also placed.

Charles: It's not just pits that you found, there's also what look like buildings.

Sturdy Colls: There are, and again, the Nazis claimed they destroyed Treblinka, they certainly levelled the site, but it's not really possible when buildings have been on a site to actually sterilize the ground, so what I've identified is that solid structural remains, we're talking building foundations, do survive, but in particular two sort of structures that I've identified are likely to be the old and new gas chambers at Treblinka."

While here we learn virtually nothing about the supposed remains of the Treblinka "gas chambers," we are provided with some tantalizing information on the camp's burial pits. Needless to say, a critical assessment of the findings made by Sturdy Colls can only be made after she has published at least a preliminary report or a detailed article on the same, but we may nonetheless with appropriate caution note down some preliminary observations on what has been revealed so far. The most interesting information, however, is not to be found in the radio interviews, but in a short article by Sturdy Colls herself which was published on the website of the BBC on 23 January.[5] In this we read:

"The existence of mass graves was known about from witness testimony, but the failure to provide persuasive physical evidence led some to question whether it could really be true that hundreds of thousands of Jews were killed here.

Although they lasted only a few days, those post-war investigations [in 1945-1946] remained the most complete studies of the camp until I began my work at Treblinka in 2010.

This revealed the existence of a number of pits across the site.

Some may be the result of post-war looting, prompted by myths of buried Jewish gold, but several larger pits were recorded in areas suggested by witnesses as the locations of mass graves and cremation sites.

One is 26m long, 17m wide and at least four metres deep, with a ramp at the west end and a vertical edge to the east.

Another five pits of varying sizes and also at least this deep are located nearby. Given their size and location, there is a strong case for arguing that they represent burial areas. [...]

As well as the pits, the survey has located features that appear to be structural, and two of these are likely to be the remains of the gas chambers.

According to witnesses, these were the only structures in the death camp made of brick."

Two composite aerial images of Treblinka

Even more important is the fact that this article is illustrated with two composite maps on which the outlines of the findings made by Sturdy Colls have been superimposed on a modern-day aerial photograph of the former camp site and a 1944 aerial photograph of the same area respectively. In the figure to the right I have placed these two composite maps side by side, moved the main legend and the scale, and slightly increased the picture size in order to allow for easier comparison of scale. On the map to the left I have also arbitrarily numbered the "probable burial/cremation pits" from 1 to 10. (Click on the picture to view it in full size).

The information furnished by the two interviews, the article and the maps allow us to make the following observations:

  1. The pit which Sturdy Colls mentions "in particular" and which is stated to have a surface area of "26 meters by 17 meters," that is a total of 442 square meters, is, judging by the dimensions, most likely identical with the rather irregular pit #3, located some 25 m south of the large cenotaph. This is clearly the largest in surface of the 10 pits identified.
  2. As far as the surface area is concerned, two of the 33 mass graves identified by Andrzej Kola at Belzec (pits #1 and 27) were larger (with 480 and 540 square meters respectively), whereas two more (#7 and 14) were almost of the same size (364.5 and 370 square meters respectively).[6] Of the six burial pits identified by Kola at Sobibór, two (pit #2 and 4) were larger or even significantly larger (with surface areas of 500 and 1,575 square meters respectively), whereas two other graves were nearly of the same surface size (pits #1 and 6, with 400 and 375 square meters respectively).[7] Yet whereas at Belzec some 435,000 and at Sobibór some 80,000 corpses are alleged to have been interred,[8] the number of uncremated bodies buried at Treblinka is supposed to have amounted to at least some 700,000. Would it then not make sense for the Germans to use mass graves of a larger size at Treblinka than at the other two Reinhardt camps?

  3. The eyewitnesses Eliahu Rosenberg and Chil Rajchman, who to the knowledge of this author are the only witnesses to have provided detailed statements on the dimensions of the mass graves in the "death camp proper," claim pits of sizes vastly larger than the largest pit mapped by Sturdy Colls. Eliahu Rosenberg claimed in 1947 that the mass graves measured 120 m × 15 m × 6 m, giving a surface area of 1,800 square meters and a total volume 9,900 cubic meters.[9] Chil Rajchman, whose 1944 testimony [10] is prominently featured in the "Hidden Graves of the Holocaust" radio program – including a particularly bizarre passage from it concerning burning blood – states:[11]

"The pits were enormous, about 50 metres long, about 30 wide and several storeys deep. I estimate that the pits could contain about four storeys."

The burial pits thus measured 1,500 square meters according to the witness Rajchman and maybe as much as (1,500 × 12 =) 18,000 cubic meters in volume! How come that the largest of the pits discovered by Sturdy Colls corresponds to less than one third of the surface size claimed by Rajchman and to one fourth of the surface area claimed by Rosenberg?

  4. It is indeed unfortunate that the top modern equipment used by Sturdy Colls for some reason or other was not able to detect depths exceeding 4 meters. Perhaps it would have been wise of her to dispense of some of the piety with regards to "Jewish burial laws" and utilize probe drillings to measure the depth of the pits, as was done by Kola at both Belzec and Sobibór. Of the pits identified by Kola in these two camps, the deepest pit (#3 at Sobibór) measured 5.80 m, whereas the depth of the remaining pits averaged some 4 m.

Generously assuming Rosenberg's estimate of 6 meters (Rajchman's estimate of some 12 meters can be safely dismissed as an exaggeration), and even more generously assuming (for the sake of argument) 6 meters to be the effective depth, with the pit walls being vertical instead of sloping (an obviously unrealistic assumption, which is moreover contradicted by Sturdy Colls statement that this pit had a "ramp" at the west end and a "vertical edge to the east," implying that three out of four side walls were oblique – but again, for the sake of argument...) pit #3 would have a volume of (26 × 17 × 6 =) 2,652 cubic meters. Assuming an average capacity of 8 corpses per cubic meters,[12] this means that the pit in question could have contained in total (2,652 × 8 =) 21,216 corpses. Since the so-called Höfle document from an exterminationist viewpointshows that nearly 713,555 were murdered at Treblinka up until the end of 1942 – in reality this document only proves that this number of Jews was deported to the camp up until that time – and since virtually all sources maintain that non-experimental cremations on a significant scale did not commence at Treblinka until 1943, at least 700,000 corpses would have had to have been interred in the camp, necessitating no less than (700,000/21,216 =) 33 pits of the same size as pit #3, with a total surface area of 14,586 square meter, or nearly 1.5 hectares. Needless to say the mass graves would have had to be separated by soil walls of considerable thickness, thereby increasing the surface area required by the graves.

Above: Montage of the 10 identified pits placed within a square 100 × 100 meters. Relative dimensions have been kept unchanged from the maps produced by Caroline Sturdy Colls.

  5. Pits #1 and 2, which together appear to have a surface area of some 600-700 square meters, are located in the western part of the camp site, near the torn-up railroad sidespur, clearly outside of the "death camp proper." These may be identical with the mass graves mentioned by the witness Abraham Kszepicki, in which the bodies of Jews who had died en route to the camp were buried during the first months of operation.[13]
  6. The four pits #5-8 are placed in a (not very straight) row. Sturdy Colls states in the radio documentary that there are "five" pits of "considerable size" "in a row" and in the area which witnesses state "was the main body disposal area, [...] behind the gas chambers." Either Sturdy Colls mistakenly said five when she meant four, or maybe she counted one of the other pits, perhaps #6, with its "neck" in the middle, as two separate pits. Regardless of which, it is clear that the pits #5-8 cover a surface area which corresponds to roughly 175-200% that of #3, that is, somewhere in the range of 750-900 square meters.
  7. Altogether, pits #3-10 as mapped by Sturdy Colls cover a surface hardly exceeding 1,800 square meters. If we assume, again for the sake of argument, the no doubt overly generous average effective depth of 6 meters with vertical pit walls – and once more I want to remind my readers that the pits identified at Belzec and Sobibór averaged some 4 m in depth – this would mean that the "probable burial/cremation pits" in the "death camp proper"/"upper camp"/"camp 2" [14] had a total volume of some (1,800 × 6 =) 10,800 cubic meters. The pits at Belzec as identified by Kola have a total estimated volume of 21,310 cubic meters,[15]whereas those at Sobibór have a total estimated volume of 14,718 cubic meters.[16] The no doubt greatly exaggerated estimate of 10,800 cubic meters could have contained at most some (10,800 × 8 =) 86,400 corpses (assuming instead a more realistic average effective depth of 5 m this figure would change to 72,000 – and this still disregards the likely enlargement of the original grave volumes due to clandestine diggings and other causes). According to Yitzhak Arad, some 312,500 Jews were murdered in Treblinka merely "during the first five weeks of the killing operation."[17] According to the files of the Jewish Council in Warsaw, 251,545 Jews from the ghetto in that city were deported to Treblinka between 22 July 1942 and 12 September 1942.[18] And as already mentioned, the Höfle document states that 713,555 were deported to Treblinka up until the end of 1942. Judging by the information revealed, only a small fraction of this enormous number of people could have been buried in the identified "probable burial/cremation pits," even taking into account the two pits in the reception camp, which, given the reported structure of the camp, could not have been used for any hypothetical "gas chamber" victims.
  8. Sturdy Colls's statement that "the failure to provide persuasive physical evidence [of mass graves] led some to question whether it could really be true that hundreds of thousands of Jews were killed here" implies that the presence of mass graves itself would be enough to refute the "deniers." However, it is clear that mass graves of considerable size must have existed at Treblinka, even if it was in fact only a transit camp. Holocaust historian Dieter Pohl estimates that up to 5 % of the deportees to the Reinhardt camps perisheden route due to suffocation, dehydration, crushing caused by panicking deportees etc.[19] Considering that the reception of transports at Treblinka during the intense initial months of operation is claimed to have been grossly mismanaged by the first camp commandant, Dr. Irmfried Eberl (who, apparently because of this reason, was fired and replaced by Franz Stangl), which led to the delay of transports at way stations [20] – and this in the summer heat of July and August – there is little reason to doubt this estimate with regard to Treblinka. Since some 800,000 Jews in total were deported to Treblinka during the camp's period of operation (July 1942 – August 1943), this would mean a total of some 40,000 en route deaths. Moreover, there are reasons to assume that a smaller percentage of the deportees were subjected to "euthanasia" due to contagious or mental diseases, or for being too weak for further transport. To this should be added a smaller number of deaths among the camp inmates caused by epidemics etc., as well as those killed by guards in connection with attempts at escape or uprisings.
  9. The vague mention of a "more complex picture of the disposal patterns used by the Nazis" is interesting. Were uncremated corpses also detected by the survey, and if so, how many?
  10. Sturdy Colls labeled the pits "probable burial/cremation pits," indicating that one or more of the pits may have been used for cremations and not for interment (at Sobibór Kola identified such a pit with an area of 10 × 3 m and a depth of up to 90 cm). In this context the smaller, more rectangular pits #4 and 5 may be the most likely candidates. The dimensions of an identified cremation pit could give important hints about the actual cremation capacity at Treblinka.
  11. It is noteworthy that none of the pits or structural remains are located under the  stone/concrete covered memorial areas (cf. the map to the left, where these areas are visible as a bluish gray). Sturdy Colls did not mention whether or not she was able to map these area with her geophysics equipment.[21] This issue, like many others, will have to await further clarification. The covered area inside the "death camp proper" appears to correspond to roughly 1 hectare.
  12. It may be worth making a quick comparison of the maps furnished by Sturdy Colls with the "reconstruction" of Treblinka proposed by exterminationist air-photo analyst Alex Bay.[22] Concerning the mass graves Bay writes:

"Unfortunately, the aerial photography does not contain enough information to delineate the boundaries of the graves. The May [1944] coverage is sufficient only for crudely identifying the places where deep disturbances in general are probable, but the exact boundaries cannot be established.

In Figure 42 aerial photography is presented in which nine 50 by 25 meter [164 × 82 feet] pits have been drawn to scale along the east and west sides. The positioning and size of these pits is purely speculative."[23]

The dimensions of 50 × 25 m for the pits are taken from Bay's number one eyewitness, Yankiel Wiernik, and his 1944 publication A Year in Treblinka. Wiernik writes indeed that "The dimensions of each ditch were 50 by 25 by 10 meters"[24] but this almost certainly refers to ditches located not in the "death camp proper," but in the reception camp. The scene wherein Wiernik provides the above-mentioned dimensions takes place on the second day after his arrival in the camp, and the following chapters imply that he first visited the "death camp proper" or Camp II, as he calls it, only several days later.

In the figure to the right I have placed Bay's Figure 42 side by side with the Sturdy Colls composite map based on the 1944 air photo. (Click on it to open a full-size version.) The scales of the two maps have been harmonized. To Bay's map I have also added the letters A and B to indicate the solid black outlines drawn by Bay to mark out the two alleged gas chamber buildings. Even considering Bay's admission that the positioning and size of his mass graves "is purely speculative," it is clear that his vision of what the "death camp proper" might have looked like differs considerably from Sturdy Colls' map. As for the locations of the two alleged gas chamber buildings, which Bay goes to painstaking length to identify (based on the aerial photos and witness statements), the four structures marked out by Sturdy Colls (in blue) and designated "probable location of gas chambers" are located some 100 m south of the sites pinpointed by Bay. The alignment of these structures is also rather different from that asserted by Bay. Together with the considerable difference in surface size between the mass graves posited by Bay and the pits identified by Sturdy Colls, this says something of the competence of Bay as well as the reliability of his star witness Wiernik.

  13. As for the "probable location of gas chambers" we learn virtually nothing other than that Sturdy Colls has identified two brick structures. On the composite maps, however, four structures are marked out, of which the largest (near the eastern exit of the "Road to heaven") is likely to be the one identified by Sturdy Colls as the "new gas chamber building." The three other structures, two of which are relatively large, are located close to each other. One must suppose that one of the two larger structures has been identified by Sturdy Colls as the "old gas chamber building." According to the most elaborate exterminationist effort to map Treblinka based on aerial photos and eyewitness testimony – the 2004 map by Peter Laponder (who also refers to ground photos taken inside the "death camp proper" as found in Kurt Franz's photo album "Schöne Zeiten")[25] – the only structures located adjacent to the "old gas chamber building" were a water pump shelter, a tiny guardhouse, and a watchtower. Yet on the composite map we have two larger structures next to each other. We will have to wait and see if the geophysical survey has revealed anything about the layout of these structures. If that is not the case, we can only hope that Sturdy Colls soon returns to the camp site to excavate the detected structural remains.

All in all, the information revealed by these interviews about the findings of the 2011 geophysical survey at Treblinka provides us with more questions than answers. We can only wait and hope that a preliminary report on the research results is not too long in coming. One thing is sure, however, namely that little indicates that the findings of Caroline Sturdy Colls have actually "proven Holocaust deniers wrong" with regard to Treblinka. On the contrary: the information revealed seems to hint that the findings of Caroline Sturdy Colls may well spell doom for the official historiography on Treblinka.
