Team torn apart as 14 players emigrate

A reader pointed out that there was a  recent meeting in another rural town between the Gardai/Police and the Latvian ‘community’ employed in the area.

There are still people and businesses who continue to hire cheap, foreign labour. These places of business should be boycotted. The message is simple. Irish Jobs for Irish Workers.  There is no doubt the political system has betrayed the Irish people.

It’s fair to point our very many of our people are not emigrating. This is their Nation.

http://www.independent.ie/national-news/team-torn-apart-as-14-players-emigrate-3002555.html

JOHN Curran has attended many going away parties in the last year but never dreamed he'd be holding one himself.

Yesterday, the 19-year-old emigrated to London to make enough money to head to Australia.

His departure from Valentia Island in Co Kerry, is a devastating blow to his family, but also a major blow to his local football team, the Young Islanders, as he is the 14th member of the senior team to go.

The problem has reached crisis point in ruralIreland and prompted a special meeting on Thursday night of the South Kerry GAA Board that has seen its player numbers depleted.

"It was like a wake at home this morning, but saying goodbye to your family is never nice," John told theIrish Independent before he boarded his flight at Kerry Airport yesterday.

Accompanying him was his friend Kevin Moran (18) from just across the water in Reenard, who's also hoping to make enough cash to go to Australia -- another player lost to his club.

John used to work in construction and already has a job lined up in London. He said he never wanted to leave but it beats "doing nothing at home".

"If things get going again here I'd definitely come back," he said.

The last time Valentia Island had a major success was in 2005 when they were South Kerry Football Champions. Twelve of that panel have since emigrated.

Club chairman John O'Sullivan said the club highlighted the problem over two years ago but nothing was done.

Since then Kerry County Board has commissioned a report on rural depopulation.

"We've lost so many of our senior players that last year we were only barely fielding 15," Mr O'Sullivan said.

Already at under-age and minor levels, the club has had to amalgamate with neighbouring clubs in Portmagee and Sneem/Derrynane who would once have been their rivals.

"It seems that every obstacle is put in the way of businesses that are trying to create employment," Mr O'Sullivan added.

He said a local restaurant was forced to close last year due to health and safety regulations and there was talk that others would follow.

The problems of Valentia are indicative of clubs all over the western seaboard and are not peculiar to Kerry.

Chairman of Dromid Pearse's Micheal O Siochain said he found comments by Finance Minister Michael Noonan that emigration was a lifestyle choice offensive.

His son is living in Australia like many of his teammates.

It's a scene that's all too familiar in rural Ireland and one that incoming GAA president Liam O'Neill wants to tackle.

"We're facing a player crisis that we've never faced before," Mr O'Neill said. "Nobody ever envisaged we'd be in a situation like we are where places like south Kerry are short of players and I'm not sure if the organisation understands the gravity of the situation."

The ‘Eleison Comments’ of  Bishop Richard Williamson

MORE CHEERFUL

Your Excellency, please tell us something more cheerful !

God exists. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-just, but his mercy is also boundless. He is in perfect control of all that is happening in the world. Neither the Devil nor his human servants, including the criminals now running the world, can lift a finger without his permission. He knows every detail of their diabolical plans and is using every single one of them to fulfil his own Providential design.

But how then can he be allowing so much evil in our world ?

Because while he never wants evil, he wants to allow it, so as to bring out of it a greater good. Many prophecies indicate that out of today’s global corruption will arise tomorrow the greatest triumph ever of the Catholic Church, e.g. Our Lady of Fatima; “In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph.” What is happening right now is that Our Lord is using his enemies to purify his Church.

But could he not have found a less unpleasant way of purifying his Church than for us to have us go through today’s unbelievable corruption ?

If it depended only on him, undoubtedly he could have found other ways of purifying his Church, but if you and I knew all that he knows – foolish thought ! – and if above all you and I wanted, as he does, to respect the free-will that he gives to all human beings, then there is every likelihood that you and I would see that the way he is choosing to do things is the best.

And just what does man’s free-will have to do with it ?

God does not want robots or merely irrational animals to share with him in his bliss. Now even he cannot give to his creatures a deserved happiness which they have done nothing to deserve, because that is contradictory and his power is over all being, not over non-being such as things contradictory. But if creatures are at least in part to deserve his bliss, then he must give them free-will, which if it is to be for real, must be able to choose the opposite of what he wants for it, and if it is really able to choose evil, then that is what will happen, more or less often.

But you say that the true Church follows Our Lord in teaching that narrow is the path to Heaven and few there be that find it (Mt.VII, 14). How can it be worth God’s while to have created, just today for instance, a mass of human beings, if only relatively few reach Heaven ? How can so many falling into the horrors of Hell not be too high a price to pay for the relatively few reaching Heaven ?

Because God works in quality, not in quantity. That a mere ten men could have saved from his wrath the whole city of Sodom (Gen. XVIII, 32) proves how precious to God is one single soul responding to his love, over a large number that by their own free choice do not want his love. “I would have gone through the whole Passion just for you,” said Our Lord once to a soul. He would say it to any soul.

Do you mean that if, when the world worries and torments me, I merely stick all the more closely to God, then he takes account of it, for me and for those around me ? I might almost want the world to be still worse !

Now you are getting the idea !

Kyrie eleison.

Green Revolution is Alive and Legitimate Government of Libya Never Stopped Fighting

http://libyanfreepress.wordpress.com/2012/01/26/green-revolution-is-alive-and-legitimate-government-of-libya-never-stopped-fighting-video/

“The Bani Walid fighting erupted on Monday, when hundreds of well-equipped and highly trained remnants of Gadhafi’s forces battled for eight hours with the local pro-NTC revolutionary brigade, known as the May 28 Brigade, said al-Fatmani, the town representative. The brigade was driven out, and Gadhafi loyalists then raised their old green flag over buildings in the western city”.

(Full article here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle-east/libyan-defense-minister-holding-talks-with-tribesmen-in-town-seized-by-gadhafi-loyalists/2012/01/25/gIQADTKBQQ_story.html?hpid=z4)

“This article (WashingtonPost link above) is terribly written but it will assure the writer a continuing job with the paper or the UN.

The resistance to the NTC and NATO never ended.

Notice not once in this article is “NATO” mentioned.

It was the bombs and mercenary forces of NATO and Qatar that gave the NTC a temporary victory in Libya, not the NTC.

Yes, a TEMPORARY victory which is no longer the case.

NATO is no longer dropping thousands of bombs and threatening the Libyan people to drop their support of the government of Gaddafi.

This means the NTC is now being picked apart by members of the legitimate Libyan government/military, and by traitors who are no longer enthused about the phony free democracy promoted by global oil thieves.

The truth is that the green flag of Libya is flying in Sabha and pockets of Tripoli.

More of the Libyan people now see the real deal and the results of the deceit perpetrated upon them by France’s Bernard Henri Levy and the forces he gathered and brought against the Libyan people.

Obama gloated about the murder of Gaddafi but he shall regret what he commissioned against the Libyan people and so too shall France, Britain and Qatar.

Pro-Gaddafi forces strike back, ‘Libya out of control’
According to Russia Today (24.01.2010) NTC doesn’t control the situation in Libya! (But all of us know, that NTC mercenaries never had any control of Libya, but of their rat -holes Misurata and Benghazi!)

Russia Today: “Fighting has broken out in Libya between supporters of former leader Muammar Gaddafi and forces loyal to the new government. The head of the National Transitional Council has warned that the country is on the verge of returning to a state of civil war. Our correspondent Maria Finoshina says the NTC doesn’t control the situation in Libya.”

Pro-aborts throw rocks, trash at pro-lifers protesting abortions at Barcelona Catholic hospital

Let us never forget those who fought and gave their lives for God, the Faith and Spain.

http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/pro-aborts-throw-rocks-trash-at-pro-lifers-protesting-abortions-at-barcelon

January 27, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Protesters demonstrating against abortions being carried out in Barcelona-area Catholic hospitals were attacked by an angry mob pro-abortion counter-demonstrators, some of whom reportedly threw rocks and trash, as well as obscene insults.

Dramatic video footage of the demonstration show the pro-life activists flanked by riot police, who are standing in between the pro-lifers and a group of angry pro-abortion demonstrators.

The protest was held, as it is on the 25th of every month, outside of Barcelona’s Santa Creu i Sant Pau (Holy Cross and Saint Paul) Hospital, in protest against the hospital’s continuing policy of performing abortions. The pro-life activist organization HazteOir (Make Yourself Heard) reports that 350 people attended.

The group, which normally protests for about 30 minutes and then prays the rosary while marching to the Basilica of the Holy Family, walked “under the cries of a hundred pro-abortionists and radicals, infuriated people who didn’t cease to yell and insult at every moment” said Tania Fernández of Barcelona Right to Life. Fernandez added that the protesters appeared frustrated because “they are powerless before the peace, joy, and tranquility that we have despite their cries, blasphemies, insults, spitting, and more.”

However, the counter-protesters grew even more violent in their anger when the pro-life demonstrators began to pray the rosary. “Upon hearing it, the violent (counter-protesters) ignited with blasphemies and began to throw stones - before they had been tomatoes and eggs,” said Fernandez.

The whole thing, she added, was a “tragic theater to ask for ‘abortion on demand, free of charge.’”

Although Fr. Custodio Ballester, a Barcelona-area priest who has helped to organize the march, was not present this month due to his participation in the March for Life in Washington D.C., Hazte Oir reports that a Russian Evangelical Protestant minister, a Pastor Valery from the Pañuel church, attended with his 12 members.”

Pro-life protesters have been gathering outside of the Canta Creu i Sant Pau hospital since May of last year in response to the hospital’s policy of conducting abortions, a policy it allegedly shares with other Barcelona-area Catholic hospitals.

The hospital has admitted that it has been doing abortions, and claims that it now will only do them when there is “danger” for the mother, a broad term it has not explained, and that has been use in Spain for decades to justify virtually all abortions. It also acknowledges that it continues to do abortion referrals.

The Legal Basis For Not Paying The Household Charge

A sincere word of thanks to the individual, who compiled this pertinent information in relation to this household charge. Please share this information with your friends.

THE LEGAL BASIS FOR NOT PAYING THE HOUSEHOLD CHARGE

You won’t get a bill because the charge is a Statute. People need to understand this: A Statute is a “legislated rule of society given the force of law by the consent of the governed.”(Black’s Law Dictionary, 4th edition).

Who are those it governs? We, the public.

This household charge is a Statute, otherwise known as an Act of Government, and only carries the force of law upon you if you consent to it which means that you are legally obliged to pay IF you consent or, in other words, go on to householdcharge.ie and register. Your silence and inaction will also give the appearance of no consent. If you do not consent, a Statute cannot affect you in any way whatsoever.

The courts know this and the last thing they will do is tell you. In fact they will hide this from you at every opportunity they can. On the other hand, if you tell them at an appropriate time, they will accept it because they know it is actually true. According to the above definition, a statutory instrument is a contract. If you register for this “charge” you are consenting to this statute ie: signing the contract. This is why the Government are ASKING the people to register and not just billing them instead.

ADDENDUM ON THE SEPTIC TANK “CHARGE”

For those of you who are said to be “liable” for the septic tank charge, the argument above also applies. If they are asking you to register – rather than simply sending you a bill – it means that they are ASKING YOU FOR CONSENT to send one of their inspectors. Most owners of septic tanks look after their septic tanks because they want to ensure that they have a sewage system that does not pose a risk to their families. So, if you WANT to pay for an inspector, register. BUT if you want to be left alone and get on with your life WITHOUT YET ANOTHER BILL, SIMPLY DO NOT REGISTER.

Bankers Celebrate at Finance Ministry in Dublin

Mayer Amschel Rothschild famously said “ Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws”

There is no doubt people are sickened and broken by a system based on debt. A real fight is on for an alternative. The bankers are indeed the overlords of the political parties. Our people should be free to own their own home, their own land, and their own business without the chains of usury/debt hanging over them. The borrower is slave to the lender. Banks are the bane of civilisation. Money should not be ‘loaned’ into circulation.

Record turnout for Paris March for Life: unprecedented support from Catholic Church

The actions of Traditional Catholics mainly the SSPX has brought about an increase in Catholic Action in France. Freemasonry and Liberalism is rampant in France.  See the videos below highlighting Catholic Action in Paris.

http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/record-turnout-for-paris-march-for-life-unprecedented-support-from-catholic

January 23, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The 8th annual March for Life attracted a record number of French pro-lifers on Sunday.

This year’s march was considered especially crucial by local pro-lifers, since 2012 will see presidential and legislative elections in France. While the abortion issue has been more or less ignored in political debate in recent years, the organizers of the March for Life hope that the increasingly popular event will help draw attention to the issue.

One of the more hopeful signs this year was the increasing support of the French hierarchy of the Catholic Church for the event, including a surprising about-face from the Paris cardinal.

Just before the 2009 edition of the March for Life, Cardinal André Vingt-Trois had clearly dissociated himself from the initiative during an interview on the official Parisian Catholic radio station, Radio Notre Dame. The cardinal suggested that from a “tactical” standpoint, “I don’t think the objective should be to yell things from the rooftops: what’s needed is work, to help with the work. And if you’re serious about that, results will follow and you’ll be heard.”

However, since then Pope Benedict XVI has sent messages of support to the Paris March for Life in 2011 and again this year.

Increasing pressure from pro-life Catholics, a growing number of bishops throwing their weight behind the March – 32 in total – and the enthusiasm of the young generation of Parisian priests have tipped the balance. In November Cardinal Vingt-Trois, in his final speech to the Assembly of the French episcopate, named the March for Life as “one of the means of action Christians choose” to promote respect for human life.

As a result, the March for Life was announced in many parishes and dioceses this year. The total number of marchers was up at least 20%, with an unprecedented number of diocesan priests from the Paris region taking part.

Cardinal Barbarin, primate of Gaul and archbishop of Lyons, sent his personal blessing: “May God bless you all, who will be taking part in the March tomorrow. My prayer will join yours, so that your March may bear fruit, and bring light and peace to our country.”

Three bishops attended the March in person. Mgr. Marc Aillet, bishop of Bayonne, told LifeSiteNews that he came to accompany the members of his flock who came to Paris for the occasion.

“I encourage the Catholic faithful to commit themselves to promote the culture of life and the Gospel of Life,” he said.

“I believe one of the ways to proclaim the Gospel of Life is to proclaim it in the streets, peacefully, joyfully and positively, as I believe it is being done today. That is why I think I am in my role as a pastor in accompanying and encouraging the faithful who are really committing themselves, and who sometimes give their life for this great cause.”

Noting that the “fears” which marked previous years are slowly being dispersed, Mgr. Aillet spoke of the new hope which is growing for life thanks to the presence of many young people and families.

More and more young people are present each year at the March for Life. Jean-Marie Le Mené, president of the Fondation Jerôme-Lejeune – which perpetuates the work of the famed French pro-life geneticist for children with Down’s syndrome – has been taking part in the March since its first year. He commented that a large part of the battle has already been won as young people who weren’t even born when the French abortion law came into effect in 1975 have heard the pro-life message and are ready to take up the battle without being hampered by preconceived ideas. “We all know that demography is what makes geopolitics. I think that is also true in the area of law-making.”

The Paris March for Life explicitly demands “laws for life,” support for the traditional family and an end to public measures that increasingly undermine respect for human life. The media kit for the March included a list of the many unfortunate measures taken by the government since Nicolas Sarkozy was elected into office. They include free distribution of condoms in high schools, social security refunds for morning-after pills, increased screening for Down’s syndrome and other genetic illnesses, propaganda for contraception and gender ideology in all publicly funded schools, increasing alignment of civil unions on marriage, and the financial reevaluation of abortions to make the activity more attractive to hospital doctors. More and more politicians of Sarkozy’s governing UMP party are making their support for homosexual “marriage” and adoption known.

To date, only one party has explicitly promised to abolish French laws that make abortion legal: the “Parti de la France” was largely represented at the March. The Christian Democrat Party was represented by its president, Christine Boutin. She intends to create better conditions to “welcome life” but is stopping short of advocating for abolishing legal abortion.

Boutin told the glossy women’s magazine Elle: “I do not want to question the principle of the abortion laws, even though my own position is public knowledge. I am not favorable to abortion. It is, I think, a tragedy. I think the trivialization of abortion is not a good thing. That being said, it seems to me to be necessary that one should be able to accompany women who are facing difficulties.”

Over 220,000 legal abortions are performed every year in France and numbers are rising, while France is one of the world’s most contracepting nations.

Teens for Life based in Dublin are highlighting a few facts on their Facebook page.”That way, if the Unborn Baby comes up in a class conversation, or even just with your friends, you can tell them the truth.”

♥ Heartbeat ♥
It has been recently discovered that a mother benefits physically from her pregnancy. The baby, while in the womb passes on beneficial cells to the mother which, should she ever get sick, can help the healing process.

Abortion is the deliberate ending of a pregnancy. It is NOT when the baby dies due to a life saving operation performed on the mother. This is because the operation was not performed to kill him/her.

As young leave Ireland, Noonan takes leave of his senses

An opinion piece from the Irish Examiner.

http://www.examiner.ie/ireland/as-young-leave-ireland-noonan-takes-leave-of-his-senses-180924.html

Opinion: Shaun Connolly

Saturday, January 21, 2012

PICTURE the scene in Cobh in the late 1840s as the huddled and wretchedly emaciated figures litter the quay side, idly flicking through Noonan’s Guide to the New World, musing: "Oooooh, shall I stay here and starve to death, or take a lovely little cruise on a famine ship and get some sun? Decisions, decisions ..."

Flash forward a century and a half and you have the finance minister deploying outrageous flippancy as he effectively says: "Calling it unemployment is just such a drag, cheer up and look at it as a sort of gap year for the poor, yeah?"
It is one thing readjusting to this being a powerless, Toy Town government with nothing to offer except austerity, and no ambition other than to prostrate itself as obsequiously as possible before the Troika, but when they start sneering at the very people who elected them on a wave of misguided hope it really is too much.

Well done, Michael Noonan, your utter inability to do absolutely anything at all about mass unemployment has opened up the world to so many.
The 575 people thrown on the dole by TalkTalk, as the Government impotently looked the other way, must be so grateful that abdication of economic responsibility offered so many ‘lifestyle choices’ for them.

And just think of all the joy that redundancy must have brought to those 550 lucky souls at Aviva, 600 at Ulster Bank and 2,000 at AIB as they whooped: "Yah! I’ve got my P45 at last! Thank you, Enda Kenny! Where’s the backpack? Australia here I come!"
It is a wonder the 32 sacked workers at Vita Cortex have the time to demand the very modest pay-off that is cruelly and cynically being withheld from them by the conveniently complicated company structure — surely, they’re too busy stocking-up on sun-tan lotion and beach wear to bother about protesting over that pittance, Mr Noonan?

To be fair to the finance minister, after talking about "a lot" of young people wanting to "get off this small island", he did, at least, acknowledge that the 800 people fleeing abroad every week to find work were not all sun-seekers, but victims of the crash as well.
But it is the smugly casual way he dismissed so many as adrenalin-rush adventurers that caused offence, and again exposed the sudden disconnect that class, coupled with a chauffeur-driven ministerial Merc, can deliver.
When gaffe-tastic tánaiste Mary Coughlan made similarly dismissive remarks about the young unemployed leaving due to "lifestyle choices", she was rounded on in a withering fashion by the same Fine Gael and Labour figures who now don’t dare, or care, to criticise Mr Noonan for delivering identically ridiculous rhetoric.

And is it just coincidence that his ill-judged remarks came on the day Ms Coughlan’s replacement as Tánaiste, Eamon Gilmore, showed an utter lack of intellectual reach, or the merest hint of originality, by telling the opposition to pull on the "green jersey" and back the Government.
Yes, the very same, and by now threadbare and discoloured, green jersey Brian Lenihan used to implore Mr Gilmore to don, the same Mr Lenihan, who, when finance minister, also spoke of youngsters wanting to get off this "small island" due to joyous curiosity not crushing unemployment.

Indeed, the Fianna Fiasco administration seems to have now merged seamlessly into its Fine Mess/Hard Labour successor.
Mr Noonan was primarily speaking about his own three children working overseas when he blundered into his sloppy lifestyle phraseology, and while that might all be very fine for financially comfortable, middle-class families like his own, who have always sent their children abroad for ‘improvement’, it is a very different reality for the less well-off.

For them, separation is only punctuated by the freeze of a Skype image or the tear-gushing post-Christmas farewell at the airport as their children and siblings, once again, tramp the streets of London for work, or bar-tend in Australia or Canada, dreading the looming day when their visa expires and they know they have to return to this "small island" with its small-minded government and massive unemployment crisis.

The CSO figures tell their own grim tale, with a remorseless rise in Irish nationals emigrating, rocketing from 18,400 in 2009 to 27,700 in 2010, and 40,200 in 2011 — that’s an increase in "lifestyle choices" of 110% — and a total that will, no doubt, be dwarfed again this year.
The middle classes have long been experts at pulling up the drawbridges in this society when the hard times bite, ferrying their hard cash abroad, getting their children into the remaining jobs at home, and, as always, it is those who have had least of the spoils who suffer the most.
And what does Mr Noonan have to offer them, apart from throwing a dog-eared copy of Lonely Planet at them as he pushes them through departures?

Oh, yes, Fine Gael’s fabled ‘jobs budget’, part of the plank of blatant election lies they tried to win an absolute majority with (see also: ‘burning the bond holders’, ‘not another penny to Anglo’, etc, etc).
But this ‘budget’ was soon reduced to an "initiative" and then allowed to die quietly of shame after producing the magnificent total of 5,000 work-experience placements, including that sought-after career opportunity, the petrol pump attendant.
So, if he hasn’t been doing anything about the 500,000 unemployed and 800-per-week emigrants, what exactly has Mr Noonan been doing?

Oh, yes, he grandly announced in New York he was going to stop paying the senior bondholders at Anglo — but the then ECB chief Jean Claude Trichet humiliated him with a firm "Non!" and the Government is now slipping another €1.25bn of our cash into the pockets of Anglo investors — the same Anglo that TD Stephen Donnelly so rightly summed-up as a "dead, criminal organisation".

And Mr Noonan has been "urgently" sorting out the debt crisis, hasn’t he? Oh, but no, he hasn’t actually, because we still have to wait until at least April for that, and because the finance minister is so routinely set upon by the (nationalised) banks and (state-run) NAMA, the bankruptcy term will still be kept at a lengthy three-to-five-year duration (despite it being one year across the border), and mortgage slaves will see little respite, because that would upset the very cowboy financiers who got us into this crisis in the first place.

After Socialist Peadar O’Donnell wrote an angry article decrying that one million people had to emigrate, the then taoiseach Éamon de Valera rang him to say that even if Peadar had been in power a million would have had to leave. Peadar replied: "Ah, maybe, but it wouldn’t have been the same million." Noonan’s remarks make clear that now, as then, it is never those who create Ireland’s cyclical economic collapses who ever pay the price for their folly.

The World War on Democracy

The World War on Democracy

by John Pilger

January 19, 2012
Lisette Talate died the other day. I remember a wiry, fiercely intelligent woman who masked her grief with a determination that was a presence. She was the embodiment of people’s resistance to the war on democracy. I first glimpsed her in a 1950s Colonial Office film about the Chagos islanders, a tiny creole nation living midway between Africa and Asia in the Indian Ocean. The camera panned across thriving villages, a church, a school, a hospital, set in a phenomenon of natural beauty and peace. Lisette remembers the producer saying to her and her teenage friends, "Keep smiling girls!"

Sitting in her kitchen in Mauritius many years later, she said, "I didn’t have to be told to smile. I was a happy child, because my roots were deep in the islands, my paradise. My great-grandmother was born there; I made six children there. That’s why they couldn’t legally throw us out of our own homes; they had to terrify us into leaving or force us out. At first, they tried to starve us. The food ships stopped arriving [then] they spread rumours we would be bombed, then they turned on our dogs."

In the early 1960s, the Labour government of Harold Wilson secretly agreed to a demand from Washington that the Chagos archipelago, a British colony, be "swept" and "sanitised" of its 2,500 inhabitants so that a military base could be built on the principal island, Diego Garcia. "They knew we were inseparable from our pets," said Lisette, "When the American soldiers arrived to build the base, they backed their big trucks against the brick shed where we prepared the coconuts; hundreds of our dogs had been rounded up and imprisoned there. Then they gassed them through tubes from the trucks’ exhausts. You could hear them crying."

Lisette and her family and hundreds of islanders were forced on to a rusting steamer bound for Mauritius, a distance of 2,500 miles. They were made to sleep in the hold on a cargo of fertiliser: bird shit. The weather was rough; everyone was ill; two women miscarried. Dumped on the docks at Port Louis, Lizette’s youngest children, Jollice, and Regis, died within a week of each other. "They died of sadness," she said. "They had heard all the talk and seen the horror of what had happened to the dogs. They knew they were leaving their home forever. The doctor in Mauritius said he could not treat sadness."

This act of mass kidnapping was carried out in high secrecy. In one official file, under the heading, "Maintaining the fiction", the Foreign Office legal adviser exhorts his colleagues to cover their actions by "re-classifying" the population as "floating" and to "make up the rules as we go along". Article 7 of the statute of the International Criminal Court says the "deportation or forcible transfer of population" is a crime against humanity. That Britain had committed such a crime -- in exchange for a $14million discount off an American Polaris nuclear submarine -- was not on the agenda of a group of British "defence" correspondents flown to the Chagos by the Ministry of Defence when the US base was completed. "There is nothing in our files," said a ministry official, "about inhabitants or an evacuation."

Today, Diego Garcia is crucial to America’s and Britain’s war on democracy. The heaviest bombing of Iraq and Afghanistan was launched from its vast airstrips, beyond which the islanders’ abandoned cemetery and church stand like archaeological ruins. The terraced garden where Lisette laughed for the camera is now a fortress housing the "bunker-busting" bombs carried by bat-shaped B-2 aircraft to targets in two continents; an attack on Iran will start here. As if to complete the emblem of rampant, criminal power, the CIA added a Guantanamo-style prison for its "rendition" victims and called it Camp Justice.

What was done to Lisette’s paradise has an urgent and universal meaning, for it represents the violent, ruthless nature of a whole system behind its democratic façade, and the scale of our own indoctrination to its messianic assumptions, described by Harold Pinter as a "brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis." Longer and bloodier than any war since 1945, waged with demonic weapons and a gangsterism dressed as economic policy and sometimes known as globalisation, the war on democracy is unmentionable in western elite circles. As Pinter wrote, "it never happened even while it was happening". Last July, American historian William Blum published his "updated summary of the record of US foreign policy". Since the Second World War, the US has:

1. Attempted to overthrow more than 50 governments, most of them democratically-elected.
2. Attempted to suppress a populist or national movement in 20 countries.
3. Grossly interfered in democratic elections in at least 30 countries.
4. Dropped bombs on the people of more than 30 countries.
5. Attempted to assassinate more than 50 foreign leaders.

In total, the United States has carried out one or more of these actions in 69 countries. In almost all cases, Britain has been a collaborator. The "enemy" changes in name – from communism to Islamism -- but mostly it is the rise of democracy independent of western power or a society occupying strategically useful territory, deemed expendable, like the Chagos Islands.

The sheer scale of suffering, let alone criminality, is little known in the west, despite the presence of the world’s most advanced communications, nominally freest journalism and most admired academy. That the most numerous victims of terrorism – western terrorism – are Muslims is unsayable, if it is known. That half a million Iraqi infants died in the 1990s as a result of the embargo imposed by Britain and America is of no interest. That extreme jihadism, which led to 9/11, was nurtured as a weapon of western policy ("Operation Cyclone") is known to specialists but otherwise suppressed.

While popular culture in Britain and America immerses the Second World War in an ethical bath for the victors, the holocausts arising from Anglo-American dominance of resource-rich regions are consigned to oblivion. Under the Indonesian tyrant Suharto, anointed "our man" by Thatcher, more than a million people were slaughtered. Described by the CIA as "the worst mass murder of the second half of the 20th century", the estimate does not include a third of the population of East Timor who were starved or murdered with western connivance, British fighter-bombers and machine guns.

These true stories are told in declassified files in the Public Record Office, yet represent an entire dimension of politics and the exercise of power excluded from public consideration. This has been achieved by a regime of un-coercive information control, from the evangelical mantra of consumer advertising to sound-bites on BBC news and now the ephemera of social media.

It is as if writers as watchdogs are extinct, or in thrall to a sociopathic zeitgeist, convinced they are too clever to be duped. Witness the stampede of sycophants eager to deify Christopher Hitchens, a war lover who longed to be allowed to justify the crimes of rapacious power. "For almost the first time in two centuries", wrote Terry Eagleton, "there is no eminent British poet, playwright or novelist prepared to question the foundations of the western way of life". No Orwell warns that we do not need to live in a totalitarian society to be corrupted by totalitarianism. No Shelley speaks for the poor, no Blake proffers a vision, no Wilde reminds us that "disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man’s original virtue". And grievously no Pinter rages at the war machine, as in American Football:

Hallelujah.
Praise the Lord for all good things ...
We blew their balls into shards of dust,
Into shards of fucking dust …

Into shards of fucking dust go all the lives blown there by Barack Obama, the Hopey Changey of western violence. Whenever one of Obama’s drones wipes out an entire family in a faraway tribal region of Pakistan, or Somalia, or Yemen, the American controllers in front of their computer-game screens type in "Bugsplat". Obama likes drones and has joked about them with journalists. One of his first actions as president was to order a wave of Predator drone attacks on Pakistan that killed 74 people. He has since killed thousands, mostly civilians; drones fire Hellfire missiles that suck the air out of the lungs of children and leave body parts festooned across scrubland.

Remember the tear-stained headlines when Brand Obama was elected: "momentous, spine-tingling": the Guardian. "The American future," wrote Simon Schama, "is all vision, numinous, unformed, light-headed ..." The San Francisco Chronicle’s columnist saw a spiritual "lightworker [who can] usher in a new way of being on the planet". Beyond the drivel, as the great whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg had predicted, a military coup was taking place in Washington, and Obama was their man. Having seduced the anti-war movement into virtual silence, he has given America’s corrupt military officer class unprecedented powers of state and engagement. These include the prospect of wars in Africa and opportunities for provocations against China, America’s largest creditor and new "enemy" in Asia. Under Obama, the old source of official paranoia Russia, has been encircled with ballistic missiles and the Russian opposition infiltrated. Military and CIA assassination teams have been assigned to 120 countries; long planned attacks on Syria and Iran beckon a world war. Israel, the exemplar of US violence and lawlessness by proxy, has just received its annual pocket money of $3bn together with Obama’s permission to steal more Palestinian land.

Obama’s most "historic" achievement is to bring the war on democracy home to America. On New Year’s Eve, he signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a law that grants the Pentagon the legal right to kidnap both foreigners and US citizens and indefinitely detain, interrogate and torture, or even kill them. They need only "associate" with those "belligerent" to the United States. There will be no protection of law, no trial, no legal representation. This is the first explicit legislation to abolish habeus corpus (the right to due process of law) and effectively repeal the Bill of Rights of 1789.

On 5 January, in an extraordinary speech at the Pentagon, Obama said the military would not only be ready to "secure territory and populations" overseas but to fight in the "homeland" and provide "support to the civil authorities". In other words, US troops will be deployed on the streets of American cities when the inevitable civil unrest takes hold.

America is now a land of epidemic poverty and barbaric prisons: the consequence of a "market" extremism which, under Obama, has prompted the transfer of $14 trillion in public money to criminal enterprises in Wall Street. The victims are mostly young jobless, homeless, incarcerated African-Americans, betrayed by the first black president. The historic corollary of a perpetual war state, this is not fascism, not yet, but neither is it democracy in any recognisable form, regardless of the placebo politics that will consume the news until November. The presidential campaign, says the Washington Post, will "feature a clash of philosophies rooted in distinctly different views of the economy". This is patently false. The circumscribed task of journalism on both sides of the Atlantic is to create the pretence of political choice where there is none.

The same shadow is across Britain and much of Europe where social democracy, an article of faith two generations ago, has fallen to the central bank dictators. In David Cameron’s "big society", the theft of 84bn pounds in jobs and services even exceeds the amount of tax "legally" avoid by piratical corporations. Blame rests not with the far right, but a cowardly liberal political culture that has allowed this to happen, which, wrote Hywel Williams in the wake of the attacks on 9/11, "can itself be a form of self righteous fanaticism". Tony Blair is one such fanatic. In its managerial indifference to the freedoms that it claims to hold dear, bourgeois Blairite Britain has created a surveillance state with 3,000 new criminal offences and laws: more than for the whole of the previous century. The police clearly believe they have an impunity to kill. At the demand of the CIA, cases like that of Binyam Mohamed, an innocent British resident tortured and then held for five years in Guantanamo Bay, will be dealt with in secret courts in Britain "in order to protect the intelligence agencies" – the torturers.

This invisible state allowed the Blair government to fight the Chagos islanders as they rose from their despair in exile and demanded justice in the streets of Port Louis and London. "Only when you take direct action, face to face, even break laws, are you ever noticed," said Lisette. "And the smaller you are, the greater your example to others." Such an eloquent answer to those who still ask, "What can I do?"
I last saw Lisette’s tiny figure standing in driving rain alongside her comrades outside the Houses of Parliament. What struck me was the enduring courage of their resistance. It is this refusal to give up that rotten power fears, above all, knowing it is the seed beneath the snow.

Household charge NOT Mandatory!‏

Hi Folks,

(important: please pass on this information, thanks).

Today we made four calls into the householdcharge.ie

We spoke to Roisin, Brian O’Gorman, Maeve and Ariel.

What we found out, and what they admitted to us was

astounding (call them on 01-2224000).

1.       The household charge is NOT Mandatory registration is

           voluntary, payment obligatory.

2.       If you don’t register, thus far, they cannot force you to, or

          force you to pay (sweet).

3.       Their CEO is a man called Paul McSweeney.

4.       They may or could issue a fine (great).

5.       But they might have a problem with collection of this if you

          don’t register.

6.       They might pursue it through the Courts. The trouble is, if

it becomes a Constitutional matter, they might end up in

the high Court, the cost of which might be prohibitively expensive

for them. A terrible situation for Phil Hogan & his IMF hench-men.

Just so as Ye are all aware: Ye do

not legally own land or property.

Page 156 - Section 1.

“The Irish Law Reform Commission, a body composed

entirely of lawyers, has made a startling proposition

to the Irish Government: that direct physical ownership

of land should be introduced in the country and feudal

tenure ended. All landholding Irish citizens are feudal

tenants under the Irish constitution, not owners. This

in AD 2006! The Irish hold, don’t own, land”. – K.Cahill

WE say, that you should call householdcharge.ie &

ask them the same questions, to establish the facts.

Lawyer for ‘X’ Case is Member of Government’s Expert Group On Abortion

Breaking News from Youth Defence. Let us continue to defend Life and the Family.

http://www.youthdefence.ie/latest-news/breaking-lawyer-for-x-case-is-member-of-governments-expert-group-on-abortion/

The Life Institute has said that it has "serious concerns"' with an expert group on abortion established by the Irish government following revelations that at least three members of group have been linked to abortion advocacy and to a drive to legalise embryo research.

The expert group was established to advise the government on Ireland's abortion laws following the 2010 ruling in the European Court which claimed the Irish Constitution allowed for abortion because of the 1992 X case.

"Today we got confirmation that a senior counsel who has been appointed to the expert committee - Mary O'Toole - acted to establish a 'right' to abortion in the infamous X case in 1992," said Niamh Uí Bhriain of the Life Institute. The X case was used in an attempt to overturn Ireland's pro-life constitutional provisions and introduce abortion.

"The government has also appointed Dr Deirdre Madden, a UCC law lecturer, to the group. Madden previously wrote that "there are very strong reasons for believing the embryo is not yet a person. Then the group contains general practitioner Ailish Ní Riain who has written guidelines describing unborn children as 'contents of the uterus' and insisting that doctors should assist in referring mothers for abortion."

Ms Uí Bhriain said that the largest party in government, Fine Gael, had made an election promise not to legalise abortion, and that they could not now rely on a quango to overturn that promise.

"Unfortunately, we've seen that committees like this have been used in the past to carry out a pre-ordained anti-life agenda, such as the Commission on Assisted Human Reproduction which was stacked 20:1 against the right-to-life," said the Life Institute spokeswoman. "We're writing to an Taoiseach, Enda Kenny to tell him that there are three key facts that the government's expert group on abortion cannot ignore. We also point out that at least three of the appointments give rise to serious concerns about the independence and impartiality of the expert group". "

She said the thee key facts that the expert group on abortion could not ignore were:

  1. Abortion is never medically necessary. Expert testimony has already been given to a government committee on this issue, where leading Irish experts confirmed that interventions for conditions such as ectopic pregnancy and cancer were not considered abortion by medical professionals since the intention was never to harm the child.
  2. The European Court ruling places Ireland under no obligation to legalise abortion since the Irish Constitution confirms that it is the people, being sovereign, who will decide such matters. Successive opinion polls show that Ireland's ban on abortion enjoys the support of the majority of the people.
  3. According to the United Nations, Ireland, without recourse to abortion, is the safest place in the world for a mother to have a baby. The expert group should also recognise the undeniable scientific evidence which shows abortion produces negative mental outcomes for women.
Notes to the Reader

The Expert Group will be chaired by Mr Justice Seán Ryan and has to report back to Government within six months with options on how to implement the judgment of the European Court.

The Composition of Expert Group on Abortion is as follows;

  • The Group will be chaired by Mr. Justice Seán Ryan and consist of thirteen other members;
  • Dr Peter Boylan, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
  • Dr Mary Holohan, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
  • Dr Imelda Ryan, Psychiatrist,
  • Dr Ailish Ni Riain, General Practitioner
  • Dr Mark Walsh, General Practitioner
  • Ms Christine O'Rourke, Office of the Attorney General
  • Ms Mary O'Toole, Senior Counsel
  • Ms Joanelle O'Cleirigh, Solicitor
  • Ms Denise Kirwin, Solicitor
  • Dr. Deirdre Madden, Medical Council
  • Dr Maura Pidgeon, An Bord Altranais
  • Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health

Mitt Romney's Ties to Israeli Military Intelligence

http://www.bollyn.com/index.php#article_13410

Updated January 12, 2012
Added material on Orit Gadiesh, Mitt Romney's Israeli Handler

ROMNEY'S ISRAELI HANDLER - Orit Gadiesh, former "War Room" assistant to Ezer Weizman and Moshe Dayan, is the daughter of Israeli Brigadier General Falk Gadiesh (born Falk Gruenfeld, Berlin, 1921) and his Ukrainian-born wife.  Gadiesh is chairman of the management consulting firm Bain & Company, the parent company of Bain Capital.  Bain Capital owns Clear Channel, the largest radio station group owner in the United States.  Clear Channel owns the networks which air the most popular radio talk shows, including The Rush Limbaugh Show, The Glenn Beck Program, The Sean Hannity Show, America Now with Andy Dean, Coast to Coast AM, The Savage Nation, The Mark Levin Show, and The Dave Ramsey Show.

Mitt Romney was a co-founder of Bain Capital along with Bill Bain, seen here.  Bain was ousted in 1991 and Romney became CEO of Bain & Company in 1991-1992.  Orit Gadiesh, who has worked at Bain & Co. since 1977, was made chairman of Bain & Co. in 1993.

Orit Gadiesh, born in Israel in 1951, has worked closely with Mitt Romney since at least 1993, and probably much longer since she joined Bain & Company in 1977, when she was 26.  Romney appointed Gadiesh to his transition team when he became governor of Massachusetts.  Gadiesh is the daughter of Falk Gadiesh, an Israeli brigadier general and former member of the general staff who reorganized the Israeli army in the 1950s after a stint at MIT.
Orit served in Israeli military intelligence. Her first position in the Israeli military was as assistant to Ezer Weizman, the deputy chief of staff who later became president of Israel.  During the early 1970s, she worked in the war room, a bunker where Gen. Moshe Dayan was in charge. As a war room assistant to Weizman, Orit provided military leaders with documents and correspondence.
Prior to joining Bain & Company, Gadiesh served in the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army. She is on the board of directors of the Peres Center for Peace, an organization headed by a former chief of staff of the Israeli military, Lt. General Amnon Lipkin-Shahak. The high-level Mossadnik Avner Azulay, managing director of the Marc Rich Foundation, is also on the executive board of the Peres Center.

Mitt Romney speaking at the Mossad's (IDC) Herzliya Conference in 2007

Romney greets his old friend, Benjamin Netanyahu, one of the suspected architects of the false-flag terrorism of 9/11.

Mitt Romney attended the Mossad’s “Herzliya Conference on Israeli Security” in 2007. Romney and the current Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu worked together as consultants at the Boston Consulting Group early in their careers.
Romney's close relationship with Orit Gadiesh and Israeli military intelligence is the real reason he is the chosen candidate of the Zionist establishment.  Romney is being supported by high-level Zionists, Israeli military intelligence, and their controlled media network.  This relationship between the Israeli military and Mitt Romney, a presidential candidate, should be of great concern to all Americans because this is how the Israeli military plans to drag the United States into a war with Iran.

Rocking them in their ivory tower!

Protest against the household charge. There was closer to 100 people at the protest. The vast majority present weren’t politically active people but ‘ordinary people’. People across the Nation are not going to pay this tax.

Gardaí keep angry crowd from storming Galway City Council meeting

January 10, 2012 - 7:30am

Protestors against new household charge try to barge way in

By Dara Bradley

‘Can’t pay, won’t pay’ was the cry of the crowd numbering about 80 protestors who stormed City Hall last evening to register their disgust at the new €100 household charge.

The protest started noisily but was nonviolent at first until shortly after the City Council meeting got underway – then scores of angry demonstrators attempted to barge and force their way into the chamber. Galway Gardaí successfully kept the crowd at bay. The protestors had pried open the main large doors of the chamber, which double as walls, and attempted to pour forward into the room but Gardaí repelled the surge and also ejected members of the public from the chamber.

At one stage a protestor picked up a chair but he was prevented from throwing it. Some Council staff helped Gardaí.

Earlier the protestors, including some toddlers and pensioners, vowed not to register or pay the new tax on property.

Speaker after speaker urged the city’s residents not to cooperate or register their properties with the local authority; and also urged homeowners not to pay-up despite the threat of a fixed fine penalty for late fees.

The protest was organised by the Galway United Left Alliance, who described the charge, which came into effect January 1, as “unfair, unaffordable and unworkable”.

The protest was noisy and boisterous and disrupted the start of the City Council ordinary meeting.

A limited number of protestors were admitted into the chamber, the remaining larger group of about 70 in the hall outside the chamber continuously roared ‘can’t pay, won’t pay’ as the delayed meeting got underway.

Then scores of the protestors in the hallway attempted to barge their way into the chamber. Gardaí successfully kept them out, however, and ejected the others who had been allowed in.

When the meeting resumed, former Mayor Mike Crowe (FF) said the protestors were the “lowest form of humanity” and said their behaviour was “despicable”.

It is understood there were no arrests, and the protestors dispersed at about 4.30pm.

Judaic Anti-Catholic Bigotry Covered Up

A pertinent article.

http://mauricepinay.blogspot.com/2012/01/judaic-anti-catholic-bigotry-covered-up.html

A search of Google News for the reports of this story which have been scrubbed indicates that it is being suppressed, particularly in the local press.
The irony of this story is that no nominal Catholic can sustain a career in the legal profession today without maintaining a sufficiently high degree of philojudaism. The
'staunch traditionalist Catholic' Antonin Scalia who regularly speaks at conferences on Talmudic law is a major case in point.
Given the very conspicuous names, I'm going to go ahead and say what the Wall St. Journal did not say, this is a case of Judaic anti-Catholic bigotry.

‘Catholic Knight Witch Hunter’? Judge Weighs Response to Epithet
Joe Palazzolo - Wall St. Journal Law Blog
Dec. 8, 2011

A federal bankruptcy judge in Minnesota wants to know why she shouldn’t fine a debtor and counsel up to $10,000 each for calling her, among other things, “a Catholic Knight Witch Hunter.”

This name-calling came in a motion to vacate, of all things, a continuance order by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Nancy Dreher. Attorney Rebekah Nett and her client Naomi Isaacson, a Minneapolis woman who is president of Yehud-Monosson USA, which owned gas stations and convenience stores, also targeted another bankruptcy judge, the bankruptcy trustee and the U.S. trustee. Isaacson, a lawyer herself, and Nett both signed the pleading.
Dreher, in her order to show cause, highlighted a few excerpts that she found particularly offensive. Like this one:

Across the country the court systems and particularly the Bankruptcy Court in Minnesota, are composed of a bunch of ignoramus, bigoted Catholic beasts that carry the sword of the church. Judge Dennis O’Brien is a Jesuit, Judge Nancy Dreher is a Catholic Knight Witch Hunter, U.S. Trustee Colin Kreuziger is a priest’s boy, and the infamous Chapter 7 Trustee Nauni Manty is a Jesuitess.

And this one:

Given what these dirty Catholics are capable of and particularly since there is no law to protect the minority, Debtor is concerned about what their secret plans are for the December 6, 2011 hearing. Catholic deeds throughout the history have been bloody and murderous.

Reached by phone, Nett told Law Blog, ”I can’t talk to you right now” and hung up. Dreher said in her order possible sanctions, in addition to a fine, could include requiring Nett to attend at least 30 hours of ethics training at her own expense.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press and the ABA Journal have more
hereand here. Dreher’s Dec. 7 order to show cause is embedded below.
