A man has established a new political party in Ireland. There was an immediate lack of interest. People are looking for something more than a political party. They have been sold out by politicians and political parties. The patriot, Padraig Pearse wrote
“The men who have led Ireland for twenty-five years have done evil, and they are bankrupt. They are bankrupt in policy, bankrupt in credit, bankrupt now even in words. They have nothing to propose to Ireland, no way of wisdom, no counsel of courage. When they speak they speak only untruth and blasphemy. Their utterances are no longer the utterances of men. They are the mumblings and the gibbering of lost souls.”
He could certainly be speaking of the ‘leaders’ of today. The parties are crumbling. Politicians are held in utter contempt. People realise nothing changes at election. Parties have come and gone. This current system is crumbling. For those wishing to learn more about ‘parliamentary democracy’ and the charade that it is, they can read The Party System by Hilaire Belloc and Cecil Chesterton.
