Don’t you find it a bit strange that a bank being investigated for fraud, which the taxpayer is bailing out with billions of Euro is now taking over one of the oldest biggest department stores in Dublin with your money?
How can this happen when these crooks won’t even tell us where all the money went that we kindly handed over to them thus ensuring utter slavery for generations to come?
The truth is, we’re being screwed but then I probably don’t have to tell you that. I think it’s pretty obvious even to the Fine Fail coterie of partisan voters out there who must surely be starting to realise that they are going to lose everything too as the IMF crooks rape the country of even more wealth, including state assets to fill the coffers of their criminal mafia bosses, namely the international bankers.
Even David McWilliams, you know, the guy who can do no wrong when it comes to predicting the collapse of the economy and now a climate change guru to boot, is now saying that to sell state assets at bargain basement prices is a mistake.
Well, I might not be an ‘economic expert’ like Mr. McWilliams but to be honest I don’t have to be to see that selling state assets at bargain basement prices is a mistake. But let’s face facts here it isn’t a mistake at all. It’s a deliberate act of plundering which has been planned for some time by the IMF, World Bank etc to ensure that every nation is raped of its wealth and brought to its knees in line with the plans of the elite bankers who have deliberately crashed the world economy.
McWilliams, and other so called ‘economic experts’ have lied through their teeth, mixing half truths with outright distortions and misinformation regarding the economy. They are nothing but shills put out there for public consumption. If they were really that bothered about explaining the economy they would be telling us truthfully that the whole money system is a fraud and that the so called ‘debt’ we owe to the as yet unidentified creditors is illegal as the thing called ‘money’ we apparently borrowed never existed to be borrowed in the first place.
The politicians have betrayed this country in a despicable act of treason. They are ultimately responsible for the rape of the country and will of course sell those state assets at bargain basement prices to their masters of the international banking world who are nothing but gangsters salivating over the spoils of the economic war they’re engaged in on the ordinary people. Our politicians, every single one of them, regardless of whether you think they’re that nice bloke next door or not are complicit in this treason and should be arrested and punished to the full extent of whatever law still stands in this country for acts of treason. In my opinion, hanging is too good for them.
Why can’t we start arresting them? We are the true holders of the power in this country and must realise that politicians, police and judges work for us, not the other way around and that if any of these bodies is breaking the law then we as citizens of this country have a right to hold them accountable and that includes arresting them.
I’m not suggesting for minute that we go out in lynch mobs and string them up, although I’m sure it’s a fitting punishment for these scumbags, but we really need to start taking the law, not so much into our own hands but simply taking it back. The law, not just in this country but also across the world, is not used to punish criminals but is implemented at a high level to protect the establishment by controlling the people through the abuse of the legal system by a select few including senior politicians who obviously act criminally but are never punished.
One simple example would be expense claims made by, let me suggest the majority of politicians, which is simply called FRAUD. These crooks don’t get punished for this crime against the people and are simply allowed to carry on regardless earning extortionate salaries and expenses whilst securing lucrative index linked pension schemes after 5 years in the job. The ‘job’ they hold, with no qualifications, is just as unaccountable to the public as their expenses claims whereby they do not have to perform to any preset standards and most of whom simply do nothing for 5 years and are never heard of again.
Not too bad when they’ve then got a lifelong pension courtesy of you and I, the slaves, filling these parasite’s pockets to the brim.
When are we going to get sick of being abused by these morons? Are we going to carry on struggling while these leeches continue to suck us dry and laugh all the way to the bank?

Numbers leaving Ireland at double rate of next EU state
Irish leaving Ireland continues as immigration continues. Immigration has benefited the fat cats in big business but certainly has not benefited Ireland.
MORE PEOPLE are leaving Ireland than anywhere else in the European Union, new research shows.
Although Ireland has the EU’s highest birth rate and lowest death rate, people are abandoning the country in droves as work dries up.
Figures compiled by Eurostat, the EU Commission’s statistical arm, show Ireland is markedly different from other countries in terms of population growth and outward migration. Overall, the population of the 27 EU countries is estimated to have grown to 501.1 million at the start of 2010 from 499.7 million in 2009.
A baby boom in Ireland, which began in 2008, has brought the birth rate to levels not seen since the 1890s, but the departure of some 40,000 people last year points to the return of mass emigration.
Eurostat says the net outflow from Ireland was nine people per thousand in 2009, reflecting a huge reversal from the heyday of the boom 2000 when the net population inflow of 8.4 per thousand was second only to Spain. The rate of departures from Ireland last year was almost twice as high as the country with the second-highest exit rate, Lithuania, which lost 4.6 people per thousand.
Economic Social Research Institute economist Thomas Conefrey believes a significant proportion of the outflow so far reflects the departure of non-Irish nationals. While detailed figures are not yet available, young Irish males are deemed be the second-largest group of migrants.
“In terms of labour market mobility, it would be expected to be highest among people who came here to work and who are no longer in employment,” Mr Conefrey said.
“This tendency for the rate of outflow to be highest among non-Irish nationals is backed up by the quarterly national household survey, which measures labour force trends.”
Irish figures for the 12 months to April 2009 point to net outward migration of 7,800 in that period, the first time since 1995 that there was a net outflow.
The ESRI has projected the outflow for the 12 months to April 2010 could be as high as 70,000. By other measures, however, Ireland’s demographic trends go in the opposite direction. The Irish birth rate of 16.8 per thousand in 2009 was more than twice the German rate, the EU’s lowest, of 7.9 per thousand.
The death rate in Ireland was 6.6 per thousand, closely followed by Cyprus (6.7) and then Luxembourg (7.3) and Malta (7.8). Such figures are well below the highest rates, with the death of 14.2 per thousand in Bulgaria the highest observed figure in the EU.
The result of these trends was that Ireland recorded highest natural growth in population in the EU, at 10.2 per thousand. This was well ahead of second-ranking Cyprus (5.5) and France (4.3), Luxembourg (4) and Britain (3.7).

We also have a few more prayer requests. The owners of the Orange Street Music Club have sold their business so we will be without premises from September. In August we will start looking in earnest for new premises, but please pray hard that we get some good premises at a reasonable rent.
Several of you have asked for an update on Paul. I have seen him a couple of times. The first time was because he had been sleeping in an old coal bunker behind my office in Canterbury and the Police had been called to remove him. I explained to the Policewoman his circumstances but got little sympathy. Since then I have been informed that he is in prison on the Isle of Sheppey, but in the hospital so ironically he is at least getting some care now.
Finally we ask prayers for Daniel whom we met at the last soup kitchen. He had been thrown out of his parents’ house following a suicide attempt. He has moved in to the house of one of the members of the CVM where he can be properly cared for. He has just started to reduce his doses of methadone and asks for all your prayers that he can successfully come off it all together. Since doing the Canterbury pilgrimage, he has asked the priests to receive formal instruction in the Faith.”

The consequences of a US war crime
Cancer rate in Fallujah worse than Hiroshima
The Iraqi city of Fallujah continues to suffer the ghastly consequences of a US military onslaught in late 2004.
According to the authors of a new study, “Cancer, Infant Mortality and Birth Sex-Ratio in Fallujah, Iraq 2005–2009,” the people of Fallujah are experiencing higher rates of cancer, leukemia, infant mortality, and sexual mutations than those recorded among survivors in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the years after those Japanese cities were incinerated by US atomic bomb strikes in 1945.
The epidemiological study, published in the International Journal of Environmental Studies and Public Health (IJERPH), also finds the prevalence of these conditions in Fallujah to be many times greater than in nearby nations.
The assault on Fallujah, a city located 43 miles west of Baghdad, was one of the most horrific war crimes of our time. After the population resisted the US-led occupation of Iraq—a war of neo-colonial plunder launched on the basis of lies—Washington determined to make an example of the largely Sunni city. This is called “exemplary” or “collective” punishment and is, according to the laws of war, illegal.
The new public health study of the city now all but proves what has long been suspected: that a high proportion of the weaponry used in the assault contained depleted uranium, a radioactive substance used in shells to increase their effectiveness.
In a study of 711 houses and 4,843 individuals carried out in January and February 2010, authors Chris Busby, Malak Hamdan, Entesar Ariabi and a team of researchers found that the cancer rate had increased fourfold since before the US attack five years ago, and that the forms of cancer in Fallujah are similar to those found among the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bomb survivors, who were exposed to intense fallout radiation.
In Fallujah the rate of leukemia is 38 times higher, the childhood cancer rate is 12 times higher, and breast cancer is 10 times more common than in populations in Egypt, Jordan, and Kuwait. Heightened levels of adult lymphoma and brain tumors were also reported. At 80 deaths out of every 1,000 births, the infant mortality rate in Fallujah is more than five times higher than in Egypt and Jordan, and eight times higher than in Kuwait.
Strikingly, after 2005 the proportion of girls born in Fallujah has increased sharply. In normal populations, 1050 boys are born for every 1000 girls. But among those born in Fallujah in the four years after the US assault, the ratio was reduced to 860 boys for every 1000 female births. This alteration is similar to gender ratios found in Hiroshima after the US atomic attack of 1945.
The most likely reason for the change in the sex ratio, according to the researchers, is the impact of a major mutagenic event—likely the use of depleted uranium in US weapons. While boys have one X-chromosome, girls have a redundant X-chromosome and can therefore absorb the loss of one chromosome through genetic damage.
“This is an extraordinary and alarming result,” said Busby, a professor of molecular biosciences at the University of Ulster and director of scientific research for Green Audit, an independent environmental research group. “To produce an effect like this, some very major mutagenic exposure must have occurred in 2004 when the attacks happened. We need urgently to find out what the agent was. Although many suspect uranium, we cannot be certain without further research and independent analysis of samples from the area.”
Busby told an Italian television news station, RAI 24, that the “extraordinary” increase in radiation-related maladies in Fallujah is higher than that found in the populations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the US atomic strikes of 1945. “My guess is that this was caused by depleted uranium,” he said. “They must be connected.”
The US military uses depleted uranium, also known as spent nuclear fuel, in armor-piercing shells and bullets because it is twice as dense as lead. Once these shells hit their target, however, as much as 40 percent of the uranium is released in the form of tiny particles in the area of the explosion. It can remain there for years, easily entering the human bloodstream, where it lodges itself in lymph glands and attacks the DNA produced in the sperm and eggs of affected adults, causing, in turn, serious birth defects in the next generation.
The research is the first systematic scientific substantiation of a body of evidence showing a sharp increase in infant mortality, birth defects, and cancer in Fallujah.
In October of 2009, several Iraqi and British doctors wrote a letter to the United Nations demanding an inquiry into the proliferation of radiation-related sickness in the city:
“Young women in Fallujah in Iraq are terrified of having children because of the increasing number of babies born grotesquely deformed, with no heads, two heads, a single eye in their foreheads, scaly bodies or missing limbs. In addition, young children in Fallujah are now experiencing hideous cancers and leukemias.…
“In September 2009, Fallujah General Hospital had 170 newborn babies, 24 percent of whom were dead within the first seven days, a staggering 75 percent of the dead babies were classified as deformed.…
“Doctors in Fallujah have specifically pointed out that not only are they witnessing unprecedented numbers of birth defects, but premature births have also considerably increased after 2003. But what is more alarming is that doctors in Fallujah have said, ‘a significant number of babies that do survive begin to develop severe disabilities at a later stage.’” (See: “Sharp rise in birth defects in Iraqi city destroyed by US military”)
The Pentagon responded to this report by asserting that there were no studies to prove any proliferation of deformities or other maladies associated with US military actions. “No studies to date have indicated environmental issues resulting in specific health issues,” a Defense Department spokesman told the BBC in March. There have been no studies, however, in large part because Washington and its puppet Baghdad regime have blocked them.
According to the authors of “Cancer, Infant Mortality and Birth Sex-Ratio in Fallujah,” the Iraqi authorities attempted to scuttle their survey. “[S]hortly after the questionnaire survey was completed, Iraqi TV reportedly broadcast that a questionnaire survey was being carried out by terrorists and that anyone who was answering or administering the questionnaire could be arrested,” the study reports.
The history of the atrocity committed by American imperialism against the people of Fallujah began on April 28, 2003, when US Army soldiers fired indiscriminately into a crowd of about 200 residents protesting the conversion of a local school into a US military base. Seventeen were killed in the unprovoked attack, and two days later American soldiers fired on a protest against the murders, killing two more.
This intensified popular anger, and Fallujah became a center of the Sunni resistance against the occupation—and US reprisals. On March 31, 2004, an angry crowd stopped a convoy of the private security firm Blackwater USA, responsible for its own share of war crimes. Four Blackwater mercenaries were dragged from their vehicles, beaten, burned, and hung from a bridge over the Euphrates River.
The US military then promised it would pacify the city, with one unnamed officer saying it would be turned into “a killing field,” but Operation Vigilant Resolve, involving thousands of Marines, ended in the abandonment of the siege by the US military in May, 2004. The victory of Fallujah’s residents against overwhelming military superiority was celebrated throughout Iraq and watched all over the world.
The Pentagon delivered its response in November 2004. The city was surrounded, and all those left inside were declared to be enemy combatants and fair game for the most heavily equipped killing machine in world history. The Associated Press reported that men attempting to flee the city with their families were turned back into the slaughterhouse.
In the attack, the US made heavy use of the chemical agent white phosphorus. Ostensibly used only for illuminating battlefields, white phosphorus causes terrible and often fatal wounds, burning its way through building material and clothing before eating away skin and then bone. The chemical was also used to suck the oxygen out of buildings where civilians were hiding.
Washington’s desire for revenge against the population is indicated by the fact that the US military reported about the same number of “gunmen” killed (1,400) as those taken alive as prisoners (1,300-1,500). In one instance, NBC News captured video footage of a US soldier executing a wounded and helpless Iraqi man. A Navy investigation later found the Marine had been acting in self-defense.
Fifty-one US soldiers died in 10 days of combat. The true number of city residents who were killed is not known. The city’s population before the attack was estimated to be between 425,000 and 600,000. The current population is believed to be between 250,000 and 300,000. Tens of thousands, mostly women and children, fled in advance of the attack. Half of the city’s buildings were destroyed, most of these reduced to rubble.
Like much of Iraq, Fallujah remains in ruins. According to a recent report from IRIN, a project of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Fallujah still has no functioning sewage system six years after the attack. “Waste pours onto the streets and seeps into drinking water supplies,” the report notes. “Abdul-Sattar Kadhum al-Nawaf, director of Fallujah general hospital, said the sewage problem had taken its toll on residents’ health. They were increasingly affected by diarrhea, tuberculosis, typhoid and other communicable diseases.”
The savagery of the US assault shocked the world, and added the name Fallujah to an infamous list that includes My Lai, Sabra-Shatila, Guérnica, Nanking, Lidice, and Wounded Knee.
But unlike those other massacres, the crime against Fallujah did not end when the bullets were no longer fired or the bombs stopped falling.
The US military’s decision to heavily deploy depleted uranium, all but proven by “Cancer, Infant Mortality and Birth Sex-Ratio in Fallujah,” was a wanton act of brutality, poisoning an entire generation of children not yet born in 2004.
The Fallujah study is timely, with the US now preparing a major escalation of the violence in Afghanistan. The former head of US Afghanistan operations, General Stanley McChrystal, was replaced last month after a media campaign, assisted by a Rolling Stone magazine feature, accused him, among other things, of tying the hands of US soldiers in their response to Afghan insurgents.
McChrystal was replaced by General David Petraeus, formerly head of the US Central Command. Petraeus has outlined new rules of engagement designed to allow for the use of disproportionate force against suspected militants.
Petraeus, in turn, was replaced at Central Command by General James “Mad Dog” Mattis, who played a key planning role in the US assault on Fallujah in 2004. Mattis revels in killing, telling a public gathering in 2005 “it’s fun to shoot some people.... You know, it’s a hell of a hoot.”
Illegal GM Maize grown in Ireland

DUBLIN and GENEVA – The Irish Government has been accidentally growing GM maize, despite its own policy to ban field trials and commercial cultivation of GM crops in the Republic. [1]
The blunder is doubly embarrassing because this GM maize is an illegal variety that is not allowed for cultivation anywhere in the EU.
The discovery was made by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (DAFF) at four of its own field trial sites including the National Crop Variety Testing Centre at Backweston in Co. Kildare, and at three other undisclosed locations in Counties Kildare, Kilkenny, and Cork.
DAFF carried out the field trials with a supposedly Non-GM maize variety PR39T83 supplied by Pioneer Hi-Bred Northern Europe, a subsidiary of DuPont, the world’s second biggest seed company and sixth biggest agrochemicals company. The purpose of the trials was to find out if this conventional maize is “suitable for cultivation and use under Irish farming conditions”.
According to a press release issued late yesterday by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) [2], routine tests by DAFF discovered that the Pioneer Hi-Bred maize is contaminated by Monsanto’s patented GM “event” NK603. The genetic modification forces the crop to survive heavy spraying with glyphosate, part of the cocktail of toxic chemicals contained in Monsanto’s controversial Roundup herbicide. [3] Cultivation of this GM maize is illegal the EU, although importation is allowed for animal feed and human food. It is unclear when DAFF first discovered the contamination. The EPA says it was only notified on 3 June – 3 months after the same seeds were found to be contaminated in Germany, and long after they were sown in Ireland. DAFF re-confirmed the contamination on 19 July.
The EPA says that Pioneer provided a “certificate of analysis” claiming the maize was GM-free. But random tests by DAFF found that 3 out of every 1,000 plants were contaminated by the illegal GM maize variety. That’s about 300 illegal GM crops per hectare. DAFF says it destroyed its fields of contaminated maize plants before they reached the flowering stage, in order to prevent pollen drift that would further contaminate neighbouring conventional and organic farmers, whose crops would then also have to be destroyed.
This is the first time a GM crop has been grown – albeit accidentally – in Ireland since protestors destroyed field trials of Monsanto’s patented GM beets in 1998.
Economic threat to Irish farmers and food producers
It is unclear how much, if any, of the illegal GM maize seeds have been sold and are now being cultivated by Irish farmers. This would cause large economic losses, and would be an ironic blow for farmers who would lose their biggest maize crop in history, thanks to this year’s unusually hot and sunny summer. Contamination by pollen drift and seed dispersal from GM maize has already contaminated hundreds of conventional and organic farmers in Spain. [4]
Lack of due diligence and false certificates
GM-free Ireland spokesperson Michael O’Callaghan said “The Pioneer company has provided false GM-free certificates for its GM seeds on at least two previous occasions. The first was in 2007 when we discovered thousands of tonnes of Pioneer’s Herculex GM maize (which was then illegal) entering the EU through Dublin port [5]. The second scandal occurred in March of this year, when Pioneer and other agri-biotech corporations sold 23 different varieties of maize seeds contaminated by Monsanto’s illegal NK603 to farmers who cultivated them on 3,000 hectares (7,400 acres) in seven states in Germany, where contaminated farmers had to destroy their crops. [6] According to the German-based Foundation on Future Farming [7], the seed companies refused to accept liability and have not compensated farmers for up to hundreds of millions of Euro in economic losses.”
“The Department of Agriculture knew this and should therefore have exercised due diligence by testing Pioneer’s maize seeds before the field trials began. This is another example of the Government’s failure to implement the GM free policy it first agreed three years ago in 2007 and again in 2009.”
Call for investigation
Michael O’Callaghan called on the Government to answer the following questions so as to protect the ability of Irish farmers and food producers to retain their share of the rapidly growing EU and US markets for GM-free meat and dairy produce. [8]
Why did the Department of Agriculture (DAFF) trust the GM-free certification provided by Pioneer Hi-Bred, even though it must have known that similar assurances provided in Ireland in 2007 and in Germany in 2010 proved to be false?
Why did DAFF not test the seeds before it planted them, in view of the fact that the same contamination by Monsanto’s NK603 was discovered 3 months ago in Germany, in early March?
When did DAFF make the discovery? Why did it wait until 3 June to notify EPA? And why did EPA wait until 22 July to issue a press release?

Will the Government and the Northern Ireland Assembly require Pioneer Hi-Bred to provide a list of its customers in the Republic and Northern Ireland, publish the names of dealers that may have received the contaminated seeds, and make this information publicly available to farmers?

Does the Government know if the illegal seeds have been sold and planted by Irish farmers? If so, how many acres of maize will have to be destroyed?
·
Will the Government test all maize seed stocks and fields of maize crops for GM contamination?
·
Who will pay the costs for testing, crop destruction, and related economic losses? Will the Government apply the Polluter Pays principle and demand reparation from Pioneer Hi-Bred, or will taxpayers and/or farmers end up having to foot the bill?

Is this an isolated case? Will the Government now make a commitment to test every shipment of imported seeds for GM contamination, or will it continue business-as-usual with random tests?

Irish citizens becoming homeless
Irish citizens continue to become homeless and are refused social welfare payments. Returning Irish emigrants are finding themselves as 2nd class citizens in their own country. It’s a scandal when the Irish State have betrayed and let down its own citizens.

Several years ago when I wrote that girls should not go to university, a number of readers were shocked. But when I listen today to a young Professor who recently spent six years teaching English Literature in an English "university" (not the same thing as a true university!), it seems I should add that boys should not go either. Or they should at least think very hard before going, and their parents should think very hard before shelling out the expensive fees. Here, in order, is what the Professor observed, what he sees as its causes, and what he sees as its remedies.
In the "university" where he taught, he observed no pursuit of truth nor education for truth. "Language is a game independent of reality, producing its own artefacts. The students are made to feel that everything is relative, there are no standards, values, nor moral framework nor moral reference. The sciences are infected with an evolutionism which opposes "science" to religion. The "Humanities" are degraded by a Freudian interpretation making everything centre on s-x. Professors tell students to have a s-x life because "it is good for them". These "universities" advertize their night life, and almost praise the sin against nature. They are utterly s-xualized.
"As for the professors, many recognize that there is a deep-down problem, but many continue to play the game. They are all Marxizing, if not Marxists. They teach as though all authority is stifling, all tradition oppressive. Evolution rules. As for the students, many more of them than one would think are yearning for something, but they are no longer looking to their "university" for truth. If they want a "Degree", it is only to get a job, and if they seek a good "Degree", it is only to get a better-paying job. Rarely will they discuss ideas."
So what are the CAUSES of the university being turned into such a purely utilitarian processor of information to serve the established system ? The Professor says, " The basic cause is the loss of God, resulting from several centuries of war on the Incarnation. Then education no longer means providing a truth or morality to live by, but rather developing one's potential to be different and better than anyone else. Returning Irish 'denied welfare'
Returning Irish emigrants are being refused vital social welfare payments because of an “increasingly strict interpretation” of the residency requirements, Fine Gael social protection spokesman Michael Ring has claimed.
Figures obtained by Mr Ring through parliamentary questions showed a significant increase in the number of Irish people being refused access to payments such as carer's allowance and jobseeker’s benefit over the past two years because of a failure to satisfy the habitual residency requirements.
Irish citizens refused social welfare payments for failing to satisfy the habitual residency condition totalled 738 last year, 985 in 2008, 373 in 2007 and 480 in 2006.
The condition was introduced in 2004 as the Government opened the labour market to workers from new European Union states.
It was intended to safeguard the social welfare system from abuse by restricting access for people who are not economically active, or who had little or no connection with the country.
Mr Ring said Irish people were being unfairly denied State support as a result of a “crude cost-saving measure”.
“Irish people returning to live in Ireland on a permanent basis should have no difficulty in claiming State support. But the reality is very different with growing numbers of Irish people being refused essential State supports.
“Irish nationals, some of whom left as recently as 18 months ago, are feeling totally abandoned by the State because of what appears to be an increasingly strict interpretation of the habitual residence condition.
This includes people returning to Ireland to care for sick or elderly loved ones, even though they are saving the State large sums of money by providing voluntary care,” the Mayo TD said.
“The dramatic increase in refusals seen in recent years raises serious questions about the treatment of the thousands of Irish people who have been forced to leave the country in the last few years, but who may wish to return to home to their families in the near future,” he added.
In a statement today, the Department of Social Protection said exempting Irish nationals from satisfying the habitual residence condition would be contrary to the equality principles that Ireland has adopted in equality legislation.
"It would also be contrary to EU law to exempt Irish nationals from the HRC and not exempt other EU Nationals on the same basis," it said.
"However, Irish nationals returning to live in Ireland on a permanent basis should not experience difficulty in demonstrating that they satisfy the requirements of the habitual residence condition," it added.
Last month, the chief executive of the Carers' Association, Enda Egan, raised concerns about Irish people returning from abroad to care for elderly relatives being refused carer's allowance.

Nick Clegg's 'illegal' Iraq war gaffe

Nick Clegg was tonight forced to clarify his position on the Iraq war after he stood up at the dispatch box of the House of Commons and pronounced the invasion illegal.
The deputy prime minister insisted he was speaking in a personal capacity, as a leading international lawyer warned that the statement by a government minister in such a formal setting could increase the chances of charges against Britain in international courts.
Philippe Sands, professor of law at University College London, said: "A public statement by a government minister in parliament as to the legal situation would be a statement that an international court would be interested in, in forming a view as to whether or not the war was lawful."
The warning came after a faltering performance by Clegg in the Commons when he stood in for David Cameron at prime minister's questions. The deputy prime minister made an initial mistake when he announced that the government would close the Yarl's Wood centre as it ends the detention of children awaiting deportation. The Home Office was forced to issue a statement saying that the family unit at Yarl's Wood would close but that the rest of the centre would remain open.
Shortly before that slip-up, Clegg threw the government's position concerning the legality of the Iraq war into confusion when, at the end of heated exchanges with Jack Straw, foreign secretary at the time of the war, Clegg said: "We may have to wait for his memoirs, but perhaps one day he will account for his role in the most disastrous decision of all: the illegal invasion of Iraq."
Clegg's remarks could be legally significant because he was standing at the government dispatch box in the Commons.
Downing Street played down the significance of the remarks by issuing a statement saying that he was expressing his "long-held view" about the Iraq conflict. In an attempt to avoid speculation about splits with Cameron, who voted in favour of the war, Downing Street added that the government would await the findings of the Chilcot inquiry before reaching a view on the war.
"The coalition government has not expressed a view on the legality or otherwise of the Iraq conflict," the No 10 spokesman said. "But that does not mean that individual members of the government should not express their individual views. These are long-held views of the deputy prime minister.
"The Iraq inquiry is currently examining many issues surrounding the UK's involvement in Iraq, including the legal basis of the war. The government looks forward to receiving the inquiry's conclusions."
But this appeared to be contradicted by the Chilcot inquiry, which issued a statement saying it was examining the legal issues in the run-up to the war but would not make a judgment about the legality of the war. A spokesman said: "The inquiry is not a court of law, and no one is on trial."
The government also faced a challenge in explaining an apparently new constitutional convention that the second most senior member of the cabinet is now free to stand at the dispatch box and express opinions of his own that do not reflect government policy.
Asked whether Clegg had been speaking as the leader of the Liberal Democrats and not as deputy prime minister, a Downing Street spokeswoman said: "Yes."
Asked how MPs could establish in future whether Clegg is speaking as deputy prime minister or as leader of the Liberal Democrats, the spokeswoman said: "The deputy prime minister is entitled to express his own view at the dispatch box."
The Lib Dems were keen to play down the significance of Clegg's remarks. But it is understood that the Lib Dem leader feels freer to speak out against the alleged illegality of the Iraq war after the recent publication of previously classified documents by the Chilcot inquiry.
Sir Gus O'Donnell, the cabinet secretary, wrote to Sir John Chilcot on 25 June to allow the inquiry to publish more documents relating to the legal advice. The most significant of these documents was a note on 30 January 2003 by the then attorney general, Lord Goldsmith, to Tony Blair.
In the note Goldsmith wrote: "I remain of the view that the correct legal interpretation of [UN security council] resolution 1441 is that it does not authorise the use of military force without a further determination by the security council."
Goldsmith famously changed his mind on the legality of the war in March 2003 after Admiral Sir Michael Boyce, the former chief of the defence staff, demanded a clear undertaking that military action would be lawful. Boyce feared that British forces could face legal action unless the invasion had legal cover.
On 7 March 2003, after visiting Washington, Goldsmith told Blair that a new UN resolution may not be necessary, although invading Iraq without one could lead to Britain being indicted before an international court. Ten days later Goldsmith ruled that an invasion would be lawful.
Sands said: "Lord Goldsmith never gave a written advice that the war was lawful. Nick Clegg is only repeating what Lord Goldsmith told Tony Blair on 30 January 2003: that without a further UN security resolution the war would be illegal and Jack Straw knows that."

It was Little Nellie of Holy God, who influenced Pope St. Pius X in lowering the age for children to receive Holy Communion from twelve to seven. Fr Bury asked her, “What is Holy Communion?” She answered, “It is Holy God.” Fr Bury asked her what would happen when she would be allowed to receive Holy Communion. She answered, “Jesus will rest on my tongue and then he will do down into my heart.” Little Nellie of Holy God is of course buried in the convent graveyard.

ELEISON COMMENTS CLVII (July 17, 2010) : MODERN ART II.
By its very ugliness, modern art points to the existence and goodness of God. After three months (cf. EC 144), let us return to this paradox, in the hope that if any soul admits the common sense difference between beauty and ugliness in art, it may be helped further to see that if God did not exist, that difference would not exist either.
The word "art" means skill, or the products of human skill. It can cover paintings, drawings, sculpture, fashions in clothing, music, architecture, and so on. The expression "modern art" usually refers to paintings and sculpture in particular, as generated from the early 1900's onwards by a movement of artists who deliberately rejected, and reject, all standards and measures of beauty as understood before the 20th century. The difference between pre-modern and modern art is as real and clear as the difference here in London between the classical Tate Museum on Millbank, and the Tate Modern, a completely new museum, floated ten years ago a short boat-ride downstream from its progenitor on the opposite bank of the Thames. It is as though modern art cannot sit still under the same roof as pre-modern art. They war on one another, just as do old church buildings and the New Mass.
Now modern art in this sense is characterized by its ugliness. Common sense agrees here with the Communist leader Kruschev, who is reported to have commented on a modern art exhibition in Russia, "A donkey could do better with its tail". And what is ugliness ? Disharmony. In Arianna Huffington's admirable book, "Picasso, Creator and Destroyer", she demonstrated how each time Picasso fell in love with another of his six (main) women, his calmer paintings reflected something of their natural beauty, but as soon as he fell out of love again, his rage tore that beauty to pieces in "masterpieces" of modern art. The pattern repeats itself in Picasso like clockwork !
Thus beauty in art comes from a harmony in the soul, be it a merely earthly harmony, whereas ugliness proceeds from a disharmony in the soul, as of hate. But harmony has no need of disharmony, on the contrary, whereas disharmony, as the word suggests, presupposes some harmony on which it is, essentially, making war. Thus harmony is prior to disharmony, and every disharmony testifies to some harmony. But more profoundly harmonious than any paintings of lovely women can be paintings of the Madonna, because the harmony in the soul of the artist painting the Mother of God can go far higher and deeper than the harmony inspired by a merely human model, however lovely. Why ? Because the beauty of the Madonna derives from her closeness to God whose divine harmony - perfect simplicity and unity - infinitely surpasses the human harmony of the loveliest of mere creatures.
Therefore poor modern art points to the harmony it lacks, and all harmony points to God. Then let nobody resort to the ugliness of modern architecture to house the Tridentine Mass. One would guess he was wanting, or waiting, to go back to the disharmony of the Novus Ordo Mass !

Alcohol-induced abuse of children is rife
FIGURES FOR alcohol abuse “would imply that many children are being physically, emotionally and sexually abused across this country on a daily basis – and especially at weekends,” the Auxiliary Bishop of Down and Connor, Donal McKeown, has said.
He was “not scaremongering” when he suggested “that frightening numbers of children are being physically abused because of addiction and that many under 18s are being sexually exploited each weekend – often in the name of harmless freedom and craic. But an abused child is an abused child whether they are in care or in a pub”, he said.
Speaking in Knock at the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association (PTAA) national pilgrimage he said “the shame of child abuse is a shame for us all”.
He continued: “But it would be great if the powerful who lead the new secular hierarchy in our country could accept that they too share responsibility, not just for righteously punishing offenders, but also for the addiction and crime of so many across our country – and learn the need for shared reparation because of the dangerous world that we have created for too many young people.”
He noted that “the Irish drinks market is estimated to be worth about € 5 billion per year. That means € 100 million per week is spent on intoxicating drinks. That is a huge part of our national budget. Not surprisingly we have the highest percentage of heavy underage drinking in Europe.
“Figures I saw recently suggested that 25 per cent of 15-16 years olds in this country get drunk at least three times a month. It is estimated that 50,000 children get drunk every weekend in Ireland”.
Abuse of alcohol was “a national disgrace and we seem unable to acknowledge it”.
It sought “to insinuate itself in to all families and all social strata. That is the dark underbelly of the image of the happy carefree Irish who enjoy socialising. Somebody pays the price and too often it is battered wives and abused children who pay the biggest toll”.
Too often it is “our hospital and emergency staff, who have to pick up the pieces or defend themselves against intoxicated patients. Too often it is communities and key people like clergy, who have to try and deal with the effects and consequences of this dark secret that lurks in the corner of every part of this country,” he said.
“In a particular way, young people are both the beneficiaries and the victims of our new culture,” Bishop McKeown added. “But they are rarely the architects of it. However, if we dare criticise the situation, there are those who will say we are exaggerating or that church people are trying to deflect attention from the evils of the past.
“To them I say that the price of repentance for the past is not silence about the present . . . abstinence in an age of over-indulgence is a powerful and uncomfortable counter-cultural sign. You might not be popular for it – but never let yourself be ashamed of it.”
He said that in a strong church “we were terribly blind to our sins. Our new society is equally capable of culpable self-deceit today”.

'Israeli soldiers kill in video game style'
It’s all fun and games for them.
A new report has revealed that young women serving in the Israeli army kill the besieged people of Gaza by remote-controlled weapons like video games.
Turkish daily Haber Turk website reported on Friday the female soldiers aged from 18 to 20-year-old operate the weapons to kill Palestinian civilians on the Gaza Strip border.
According to the report, the women soldiers, located far away in an operations room, press a single key with a PlayStation-style joystick to kill those Gaza residents who allegedly breach the border.
The Israeli military calls the operation, "Spot and Shoot," British writer and freelance journalist Jonathan Cook wrote in an article in his website on July 13.
The female soldiers are responsible for aiming and firing machine-guns mounted on watch-towers few hundred meters along an electronic fence that surrounds Gaza.
The system is one of the latest "remote killing" devices developed by Israel's Rafael armaments company, according to the article.
Rafael's Vice President Giora Katz said that remote-controlled military hardware such as Spot and Shoot is the face of the future.
He expects that within a decade at least a third of the machines used by the Israeli army to control land, air and sea will be unmanned.
The Spot and Shoot system -- officially known as Sentry Tech -- has mostly attracted attention in Israel because it is operated only by young female soldiers, making it Israeli army's women-only killing machine.
Female soldiers are reportedly preferred to operate remote killing devices because of a shortage of male recruits to Israel's combat units.

The "Contraceptive Effect"

The vast majority of women we see have used various forms of contraception, sometimes more than one at a time, and various "emergency contraception", i.e. abortifacients, yet still found themselves pregnant.
Alongside these women, however is a small but growing number of women who come to us unexpectedly pregnant but having not used anything to (supposedly)"protect themselves". Now we are totally opposed to contraception, but we ask these women (most of whom have no moral problem with contraception) "Why didn't you use contraception if you didn't want to have a baby?".
Their answer invariably is "Well all my friends are sleeping with their boyfriends and none of them are pregnant. I just didn't think it would happen to me."
Of course many of their friends have become pregnant but they just got rid of their babies quietly - abortion statistics suggest that in the UK depending where you live 1 in 3 to 1 in 5 women have had an abortion. And others have taken the morning after pill or some other early abortifacient.
In the end though, the Contraceptive Effect on these women is to make them ignorant of the true realities of a sexual relationship. We have the strangest situation where we have the most promiscuous population in living memory, yet they are more naive about sex than ever. They don't expect to become pregnant until they want to, they don't have a clue about when they are fertile or how contraceptives work.
We will of course finish by explaining to these women that contraception damages them physically, frequently fails and ruins relationships, and that chastity is the moral and safe way to a happy future. But it is mindblowing that more and more graphic information and more and more freely available contraception continues to make men and women more and more naive and more vulnerable.

Protest outside Limerick Family Planning Clinic
Thought and Action was represented at a very successful protest outside the Clinic in Limerick earlier this afternoon. This Family Planning Clinic have no right to sacrifice a life, and make no secret of their connection with the abortion industry. These clinics profit on the taking of innocent human life and the distribution of contraception which is contrary to the law of God. It is an essential part of Catholic Action to picket such clinics and take to the streets. The Holy Rosary was recited and prayers offered for conversion of staff who work in this clinic. Thought and Action commends Youth Defence for their successful day in Limerick.

Youth Defence held a roadshow in the city centre today before gathering outside the Family Planning Clinic on Mallow Street for a protest.
There was a heavy garda presence for the duration of the protest but it passed off peacefully.

Discussions’ Usefulness

ELEISON COMMENTS CLVI (July 10, 2010) : DISCUSSIONS' USEFULNESS.
Many Catholic souls presently worried by the on-going discussions taking place between Rome and the Society of St Pius X might be somewhat re-assured if they could hear, as I did two months ago, Bishop de Galarreta giving his reasons why these discussions should proceed to their appointed end (but no further). They present little danger and several advantages, he says.
After the introductory meeting last October, there were discussions proper in January, March and May of this year. Each meeting has a before, a during and an after. Beforehand, the team of four SSPX representatives submits to the four Roman theologians a declaration of Catholic doctrine on the matter in hand, together with the problems raised by the contrary doctrine arising out of Vatican II. At the meeting itself, the Romans give their answers, and the ensuing oral discussion is recorded. Afterwards, the SSPX draws up a written summary of the recorded discussion. So far only the liturgy and religious liberty have been discussed, but the Bishop envisages all further necessary discussions being terminated by the spring of next year.
In evaluating these discussions, he distinguishes between the mere fact of their taking place, and their content. As to their content, he says that the SSPX team is disappointed by the oral discussions because, as another member of the team told me, "They lack theological precision. Two lines of thinking which cannot meet produce not a dialogue but rather two monologues. However, the Romans are nice to us, so the meetings are not so much vinegar as mayonnaise. We say what we think. We are under no illusions". But the Bishop does say that the discussions' written product from before and after the meetings will constitute a valuable dossier for the demarcation of Catholic Truth from Conciliar error, and for the tracking down of the latest evolution of that error. "Since the time of John-Paul II it has become more subtle", he says.
As to the mere fact of the discussions, the Bishop sees several further advantages. Firstly, it is good for Romans to get to know representatives of the SSPX, and vice versa -- such contact can cut out much of the Devil's beloved smoke and mirrors. Nor does the Bishop see great danger in the contact, because these particular Romans are not perverse, he says, and it is clear where they are coming from and where they want to go. Secondly, the mere fact that Rome at the highest level is seriously discussing SSPX doctrine gives to the SSPX credit in the eyes of many a mainstream priest of good will, otherwise inaccessible for Tradition. And thirdly, some of Rome's best brains are occasionally stopped in their tracks by the old arguments being newly put forward by the SSPX. In other words Catholic Truth may be only beginning, but it is beginning, to impose itself once more.
Dear readers, let us have patience, and a boundless trust in the Providence of God - after all, it is his Church ! And let us pray to the Mother of God to maintain in each of us the love of that Truth which alone can save our souls, and without which Catholic Authority can never be restored.

Home-grown is cheap and tasty
The following letter featured in a Sunday newspaper. More and more families are growing their own food and eating at home.
Sir -- I'd like to offer an observation on dining out, as experienced last Sunday (not in my own city, I hasten to add).
The food was very good but sadly, it was as costly as during the boom years. This is particularly the case at weekends.
People should not pay enormous prices for food in these times -- it is damaging for both the economy and tourism.
We have a beautiful country and there is absolutely nowhere like Ireland on summer days.
Irish food is of a very high quality and known widely for its freshness and flavour. Staff are always friendly, well groomed and very helpful.
Nevertheless, it would be wise for the owners of restaurants and hotels to reduce their prices, as many have already done. After all, staff and wages have been cut right across the board.
Perhaps if they do so, tourists will be more inclined to visit this country and savour the unique flavour which belongs to Ireland alone.
Also, people -- even with the tiniest of gardens -- are growing their own vegetables and children are being taught to sow, grow, tend, gather and enjoy.
They learn, as we did in earlier difficult times, to value all things and experience more about our Irish culture from a very early age. This is to be welcomed.
Perhaps the Sunday roast will return in high fashion throughout our land and will again become a special treat.
For many, it never went away and now it comes with home-grown vegetables, including early potatoes, dripping with butter -- a mouth-watering taste of great, healthy eating.
I can almost see, taste and smell that succulent Irish dinner, so I had better stop my writing as ta ocras mor orm.

Don’t go to Ireland!
Such signs appeared in Latvia, Poland, Lithuania a number of years ago. This was devastating to their own countries and we saw people being uprooted from their home Nation as the behest of the Speculator and the Usurer. Of course Ireland needed these immigrants for “our economic prosperity”. The Money Men are happy to shaft people around the world for financial gain, but at the cultural, national, economic and religious detriment of Nations.
The unholy trinity of these financiers, politicians and industrialists is Money, Markets and Mammon. Many village people in Latvia and Poland wept as their children left home to become swept up in the Capitalist, Globalisation and Multiculturalism.
Many Socialists want no borders, no Nations. It would appear that many on the “left” are part of the unholy trinity of Money, Markets, and Mammon. The Labour party favour mass-immigration, they were rabid supporters of the Lisbon Treaty that weakened Irish sovereignty. Part of the EU “project” is to destroy the family. They want abortion as a “right” in every country.
Like the best of Poles and Latvians, who want to be Polish in Poland, and be Latvian in Latvia, the Irish seek to be Irish in Ireland. There is great wisdom in why the Latvians and Poles erected such signs and pleaded with their youth not to emigrate.

The last 2 entries centred upon the fact that in Germany there is a ‘project’ running where parents are positively encouraged to sexually caress their children and in the case of Holland a political party has been formed by convicted paedophiles whose stated goal is to make paedophilia and bestiality (sex with animals) legal.
Now, I don’t know about you but the thought of a parent being told that it’s ok to sexually molest your children makes my stomach turn as does snuggling up naked to Fido.

In brief, the pamphlet being handed out from the German Government to parents states, and I quote,
“Fathers do not devote enough attention to the clitoris and vagina of their daughters. Their caresses too seldom pertain to these regions, while this is the only way the girls can develop a sense of pride in their sex,” reads the booklet regarding 1-3 year olds. The authors rationalize, “The child touches all parts of their father’s body, sometimes arousing him. The father should do the same.”
“The pamphlet advises parents to permit young children “unlimited masturbation” except where physical injury becomes apparent. It advises: “Children should learn that there is no such thing as shameful parts of the body. The body is a home, which you should be proud of.” For ages 4-6, the booklet recommends teaching children the movements of copulation.”
Now to me, this is not something a parent would ever naturally wish to do to any of their children. They would find it repulsive. So why then is the German government promoting such disgusting theories? Let me suggest that it is a deliberate attempt to desensitise the public to the criminal act of paedophilia because there are paedophiles in the higher echelons of society as there are in all walks of life, IF NOT MORE.
The recent case, which I also mentioned yesterday, is the ongoing case in Scotland which involves the multiple rape of a Down’s syndrome girl over many years by a large paedophile ring which includes members of the Scottish establishment including judges, lawyers, police officers, social workers, family members etc etc etc… This case has been running for over a decade and is still being covered up by the Scottish government including the First Minister, Alex Salmond. Even the BBC reported this further making me suspicious as to why they would give these repulsive creatures the publicity? Could it be that the BBC is also trying to break down the barriers of morality? We also have ‘Project Caressing’ which encourages what I would term, ‘intergenerational sex’ or to put it bluntly, the sexual assault of children by older people. If you look at the website you may not seem overly concerned but when you see the kind of people involved in this project them your hackles should be well and truly raised.

In conclusion: I believe that the case of the 12 year old girl being repeatedly raped by upto 60 men, only 20 of whom it appears have been named, the Hollie Greig case in Scotland which is only the tip of the iceberg and not only confined to Scotland and the promotion of paedophilia and bestiality in Europe by the mainstream media is nothing more than a further attempt to degrade society and bring us closer to the Brave New World as promoted by Aldous Huxley, in which he wrote about in fictional and factual format, whereby he saw a world run by elites with no taboos whatsoever and children simply bred in test tubes for their use to the society he envisaged with his elite psychopathic cronies.

I suggest you read more of Huxley’s writings and those of Bertrand Russell, who himself was given a royal license to operate special schools where he conducted experiments on children. He encouraged them to have pre-pubertal sex, with no inhibitions and with as many partners, of either sex, as possible. The goal was to discover how to break down the natural bonds between mating adults, ie life partners. He accomplished his mission and we can see the results of this today in our society with mass sexual promiscuity and the promotion, through the media, mainly music, TV and cinema of the sexualisation of children whereby they want do dress like their ‘celebrity’ icons.
We see young girls dressed like prostitutes and wonder how there are so many sexually active children, male and female and predators, like the paedophile ring who raped the 12 year old girl covered in yesterday’s article.
