White phosphorous bombs pour on Gazans
http://www.presstv.ir/gaza/detail.aspx?id=82366
The Israeli army has continued its offensive on the Gaza Strip for a 20th consecutive day, pounding the region with white phosphorous bombs.
In fresh strikes on the coastal sliver, Israeli jets targeted the northern town of Jebaliya early Thursday, dropping white phosphorous bombs on the residents, a Press TV corresponded reported.
White phosphorus, classified as a 'chemical weapon' by the US intelligence, is an incendiary material that causes horrific burns, severe injuries or death when it comes in contact with skin.
Under the Geneva Treaty of 1980, the use of white phosphorous as a weapon is prohibited, however, there is no blanket ban on its use as a smokescreen or for illumination.
Despite the presence of photographic evidence proving that Israel has been using the controversial weapon during its offensive in Gaza, Israeli military denies using the chemical against the civilians saying it is using white phosphorus shells to create smokescreens to allow its ground forces to operate.
Tel Aviv has refused to comment on the types of munitions it is using in the attacks on Gaza. This is while it has admitted using white phosphorus during its 33-day war with Lebanon in 2006.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces continued overnight airstrikes Wednesday through Thursday.
Palestinian hospital officials reported that seven Palestinians were killed in two separate airstrikes in the early hours of Thursday.
Israeli troops engaged in battles with Palestinian fighters in north and south of Gaza City early on Thursday.
Over 1,038 Gazans - including at least 311 children and 97 women - have been killed and 4,700 have been wounded since Israel launched its offensive against the Palestinian territory on December 27.

Emergency Aid for Palestine
Do take time to help.
Link to secure online donation facility (please scroll to the right)
http://www.holylandfree.org/
Catholics are asked through their charity to contribute to the material relief of our desperately suffering Palestinian brethren.
Traditional Catholics in Europe have for some years built good relationships with Catholic Palestinians in the Holy Land attempting to provide aid in the forms of medical assistance, the organization of pilgrimages and by the support of small craft enterprises whereby Palestinian families are enabled, in a small way, to work to provide for themselves.
Please consider donating to this important work of charity, especially at this time, when, in Gaza more than 30% of the victims of the ongoing conflict are young children and babies.
The next aid mission of Catholic traditionalists to the Holy Land leaves towards the end of February, 2009. Gaza is completely closed to outside aid at the moment but donated monies indicated for Gaza will be given to a Catholic medical mission to ensure that doctors, nurses and medical supplies reach Gaza at the first opportunity.
Thank you for your time and support on behalf of our suffering brethren in the Holy Land.

Local produce-local markets
2008 saw a marked increase in farmer markets around Ireland.Local products at great prices. Home made bread, cakes, tarts, jams. Fresh eggs, vegetables and flowers and shrubs.Small markets with excellent value, quality local produced products. I have no doubt they will increase in popularity in 2009.Many still appreciate home based cooking and produce.

The Israeli massacre continues.
The Zionist controlled press are doing a fine job to distort the information coming from Gaza but the whole society are seeing the Zionists drop depleted uranium, DIME bombs on the Palestinian people. Over 500 are dead and thousands are injured.
Hamas are hardly to blame as Israel as occupiers want to push the Zionism further. I will certainly not defend the use of deplted uranium, and other American supplied weapons. The consequences of these are well known.
Thousands all over the world are protesting against Israel.
Pray for the people of Gaza both Christian and Muslim. The rogues in Israel are again showing the world what they are made of.

Pope's New Year's message
LifeNews.com January 2, 2009:
Pope Benedict XVI has a special message for the world with the start of the New Year and it focuses on condemning abortion and birth control. The pope urged efforts to end poverty across the globe but said those efforts must also be life-affirming for women and unborn children.
The leader of the Catholic Church said poverty is often regarded by abortion advocates as a consequence of demographic change
That's the claim that there are too many people on the planet despite evidence that several areas of the world are experiencing underpopulation.
"For this reason, there are international campaigns afoot to reduce birth-rates, sometimes using methods that respect neither the dignity of the woman, nor the right of parents to choose responsibly how many children to have," the pope said.
"Graver still, these methods often fail to respect even the right to life," he added.
"The extermination of millions of unborn children, in the name of the fight against poverty, actually constitutes the destruction of the poorest of all human beings," the pope said.
The pope pointed out that population growth has led to a result in poverty, saying that, in 1981, around 40% of the world's population was below the threshold of absolute poverty and indicating that percentage has been reduced by half despite population growth in some of the worst areas.
"This goes to show that resources to solve the problem of poverty do exist, even in the face of an increasing population," the pontiff said.
"Moreover, among the most developed nations, those with higher birth-rates enjoy better opportunities for development. In other words, population is proving to be an asset, not a factor that contributes to poverty," Pope Benedict concluded.
