Local produce-local markets
2008 saw a marked increase in farmer markets around Ireland.Local products at great prices. Home made bread, cakes,tarts,jams. Fresh eggs, vegetables and flowers and shrubs.Small markets with excellent value, quality local produced products. I have no doubt they will increase in popularity in 2009.Many still appreciate home based cooking and produce.

Yes agreed local markets are a good thing. Speaking from a Dublin point of few though, any "farmers market" I've been to has been totally over priced and there's been an air of upper middle class about them, kind of snobbishness. We should take after the europeans and even the english basing our markets on good honest foods, not stuff olives and gourmet onions.
